AN ORDINANCE
Amending the Evanston Zoning
Ordinance, Adopted November
21, 1960, as amended.
WHEREAS, the City Council referred to the Zoning Amendment
Committee for its consideration, the matter of certain amendments
to the Evanston Zoning Ordinance concerning the following property:
The area bounded by the right-of-way of the Skokie
Swift branch of the Chicago Transit Authority on
the north, bounded by a line sixty feet west of the
west line of Barton Avenue on the east, bounded by
the north line of the first alley north of Dobson
Street on the south and bounded by a line 135 feet
east of the east line of Asbury Avenue on the west.
The property consists of the easterly portions of
lots commonly known as 141-205 Asbury Avenue; and
WHEREAS, a public hearing was held by the Evanston Zoning

Amendment Committee on June
20,
1968, pursuant to notice and
publication as required by
law;
and
WHEREAS, the Evanston Zoning Amendment Committee rendered
a report recommending a change in zoning of the said area; and
WHEREAS, in the opinion of the City Council, the highest
and best use of the properties would be to change the present
R2 Single -Family District to R6 General Residence District of
the area bounded by the right-of-way of the Skokie Swift branch
of the Chicago Transit Authority on the north, bounded by a line
sixty feet west of the west line of Barton Avenue on the east,
bounded by the north line of the first alley north of Dobson

Street on the south and bounded by a line 135 feet east of the
east line of Asbury Avenue on the west, which property consists
of the easterly portions of lots commonly known as 141-205
Asbury Avenue, and that said changes in the zoning would not
adversely affect property adjacent thereto or in the immediate
area.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION 1: That the Zoning Ordinance of the City
of Evanston, adopted November 21, 19609
as amended, be further amended as follows:
That the following described property now classi-
fied as R2 Single -Family District on the official
District Map of the Evanston Zoning Ordinance is
• hereby zoned R6 General Residence District. The
regulations and restrictions applicable to R6
General Residence District and the penalties pro-
vided for in said Zoning Ordinance, adopted November
21, 1960, as amended, for a violation of any such
regulations and restrictions, shall hereafter apply
to the following area:
The area bounded by the right-of-way of the

Authority on the north, bounded by a line
sixty feet west of the west line of Barton
Avenue on the east, bounded by the north line
of the first alley north of L)obson Street on
the south and bounded by a line 135 feet east
of the east line of Asbury Avenue on the west.
The property consists of the easterly portions
of lots commonly known as 141-205 Asbury Avenue.
SECTION 2: The official District Map of the Zoning
Ordinance of the City of Evanston,
as amended, shall be further amended in accordance with the
provisions of this ordinance.

SECTION 3: All ordinances or parts of ordinances
in conflict herewith are hereby
repealed.
SECTION 4: This ordinance shall be in full force
and effect from and after its passage,
approval and publication in the manner provided by law.
