HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCES-1968-084-O-68093 AN ORDINANCE Amending the Ordinance Creating the Evanston Youth Commission. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: SECTION 1: That Sections 2-181, 2-182 and 2-183 of the Code of the City of Evanston,1957,.as amended, be and is hereby amended to read as follows: "Sec. 2-181.. Creation and Appointment. There is hereby created a Youth Commission for the City of Evanston. The Youth Commission shall con- sist of fifteen members to be appointed by the Mayor with the advice and consent of the City Council. In the appointment of said members, the Mayor and City Council shall give consideration to the broad representation of all groups and individuals, lay and professional, from within the social and religious structure of the community. "Sec. 2-182. Terms of Office; Vacancies. All members of the Commission shall serve for three-year terms or until their successors are appointed and qualified, provided, however, that five members shall be initially appointed for three-year terms, five members shall be initially appointed for two-year terms, and five members shall be initially appointed for one-year terms. "Sec. 2-183. Organization. Immediately upon its organization, the Youth Com- mission shall select from its membership, a chair- man and vice chairman. The persons so selected • shall serve for terms of one year and may be re-elected to said posts. The Commission shall adopt rules for the conduct of its meetings and keep written minutes of all meetings and other proceedings. The Commission shall meet at the call of the chairman and at such other times as may be provided by its rules. A majority of members shall constitute a quorum, provided that the vote of a majority of such quorum shall be necessary for the adoption or approval of any matters before the Commission. All meetings of the Youth Commission shall be public and its minutes shall be available for examination in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Evans- ton during regular business hours.
