HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCES-1969-044-O-69• 44-0-69 Amended 6- 23-69 0 AN ORDINANCE Amending Section 2-19 of the Evanston Municipal Code, 1957 BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY,'ILLINOIS: SECTION 1: That Section 2-19 of the Evanston Municipal Code, 1957, relating to compensation of aldermen is hereby amended to read as follows: "The compensation to be paid to aldermen for their services is hereby fixed at the sum of $25.00 to each alderman for each meeting of the City Council attended by him, except that each alderman who is elected and qualifies on and after the election to be held in April 1971, or who is a member of the City Council on the date of said election, shall be paid the sum of $45.00 for each meeting of the City Council actually attended by him after said election. Each such alder- man shall be allowed two absences in each year for which he shall be compensated at the rate hereinabove stated. "After July 1, 1969, each alderman may miss more than two meetings per year and still receive payment at the said rate if such alderman can show the cause for such addi- tional absence to be illness of the alderman. Such payments shall encompass all absences occurring after July 1, 1969. "An alderman duly elected and serving as acting mayor shall receive the mayor's salary for the period of time he so serves. No other salary or compensation shall be allowed to any alderman." SECTION 2: This ordinance shall be in full force and affect from and after its passage and approval in the manner provided by law.
