HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCES-1969-087-O-69s ")g0 87-0-69 AN ORDINANCE Amending Section III, Section VIII.B.9.c.9 Section VIII.C.9.c., and Section IX.B.9.c* of the Evanston Zoning Ordinance, Adopted November 21, 1960. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: SECTION 1: That Section III of the Evanston Zoning Ordinance, adopted November 21, 1960, as amended, be further amended so that the definition of "Sign" shall hereafter be and read as follows: • "A name, identification, description, display or illustration which is affixed to or painted or represented directly or indirectly upon a building, structure, or other outdoor surface or is erected or maintained on a piece of land, and which directs attention to an object, product, place, activity, person, institution, organization, or business. Each display surface of a sign shall be considered to be a separate sign. However, as used herein the word sign does not include any display of official court or public office notices, nor the flag, emblem or insignia of a nation, political unit, school, or religious group, nor a sign located completely within an enclosed business, commercial, or industrial building, nor traffic signs." SECTION 2: That in all other respects Section III of the Zoning Ordinance be and it is reaffirmed. SECTION 3: That Section VIII.B.9.c. and Section VIII.C.9.c. of the • Evanston Zoning Ordinance, adopted November 21, 1960, as amended, 0- • 1? 91 - 2- be further amended so that each shall hereafter be and read as follows: "No sign, except a sign on a marquee, canopy or awning which fully complies with all other pro- visions of this ordinance and the Sign, Canopy and Awning Regulations of the City, shall project more than 12 inches across a street lot line." SECTION 4: That Section IX.B.9.c. of the Evanston Zoning Ordinance, adopted November 21, 1960, as amended, be further amended so that the same shall hereafter be and read as follows: "No sign, except a sign on a marquee, canopy or awning which fully complies with all other pro- visions of this ordinance and the Sign, Canopy and Awning Regulations of the City, shall pro- ject more than 24 inches across a street lot line." SECTION 5: All ordinances or parts of ordi- nances in conflict with the pro- visions.of this ordinance are hereby repealed. SECTION 6: That this ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval and publication in the manner pro- vided by law.
