AN ORDINANCE
Amending Section III and Section X.B.10
and Section C. B.. 11 ' of the Evanston
Zoning Ordinance, ado;ted November 21,
1960
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION 1: That Section III of the Evanston
Zoning Ordinance, adopted November 21,
1960, as amended, be amended by adding the following sentence
to the definition of "BUILDING, HEIGHT OF":
"The height of any story of a building shall be
excluded from the calculation of building height
when seventy-five !Percent (715°;) or more of the
gross floor.area of said story consists of a
parking area."
SECTION 2: That Section X.B.10, subparagraphs a,
b, c, and d, of the Evanston Zoning
Ordinance, adopted November 21, 1960, as amended, be amended so
that the same shall hereafter be and read as follows:
"a. Single Family Dwellings
Two parking spaces for each dwelling unit.
No more than four parking spaces shall be
permitted for each single-family dwelling,
unless such spaces are located within
thirty (30) feet of an' alley with the access
-..of _such._s.paresfrom such alley.
b, Two Family Dwellings
One and one-half (l/2) parking spaces for each
dwelling unit.
C. Dwelling - Attached (group, row, and town houses)
One and one-half (11'21) parking spaces for
• each dwelling unit.

d. Multiple -Family Dwelling
(1) In University, Business,.Commercial and
Manufacturing Districts: one parking
space for each dwelling unit.
(2) In Residence Districts:
(a) One parking space for each dwelling_.
unit with 700. square. feet or 'less
floor area.
(b) One and one-fourth (1!4) parking spaces
for each dwelling unit with more than
700 square feet of floor area, pro-
vided that said parking spaces in excess
of one space for each dwelling unit may
be located in tandem."
SECTION 3: That Section X.B. 11 of the Evanston
Zoning Ordinance, adopted November 21,
1960, as amended, be amended so that the same shall hereafter
be and read as follows:
"11. Exemptions
a. Notwithstanding any other provisions of
this ordinance, buildings located in
Business, Commercial or Ianufacturing
Districts may be structurally altered
or enlarged by no more than 20 percent
of the gross floor area existing on the
date of this amendment, where such alter-
ation or enlargement is otherwise lawful,
without providing additional parking spaces,
provided that no additional dwelling units
are added and that the use classification
of the building is not changed.
b. Notwithstanding any other provisions of
this ordinance, residential buildings
located in any zoning district may be
structurally altered or enlarged, pro-
vided no additional dwelling units are
created, without providing more than
one parking space per dwelling unit.

c. Notwithstanding any other provision
of this ordinance, where more than
one parking space per dwelling unit
is required or provided on a zoning
lot; any parking space provided in
addition to one parking space per
dwelling unit may be located in tandem
to a required parking space."
SECTION 4: All ordinances or party of ordinances
in conflict with the provisions of
this ordinance are hereby repealed.
SECTION 5: That this ordinance shall be in full
force and effect from and after its
passage, approval and publication in the manner provided by
law.
