►WHEREAS# under the provisions ° of Section. 3.4-6 of the
Illinois Municipal Code, 1969t the- vacancy shall be filled,by
special electiont and
WHEREA ;y the City Council of tho City of Evanston has
determined that the best interest of the Clay of Evanston
required that a special election he called for the purpose of
filling said vacancy.
NOW, THEAEFORC, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNT CIL OF

the purpose of electing a Mayor 'to fill the unexpired term of
John D. Emery. and until a success6t is elected at the next

regular Municipaal 'Slection and had qualified.
SECTION 21 That 'ssid election shall be held in
the regular polling places in the
several precincts of -the City ,of Evanston as designated by the
City Council; and that the Judges shall be appointed by the City
Councils and shall officiate at and conduct said special elec-
tion for and on behalf of the Citiof Evanston.

SECTION 4: They City Claris be and he is hereby
directed to provide for giving notice
of said election and conducting said election as provided by law.
SECTION b: The City Clerk be and he is hereby
authorized in the manner provided by
law to. prepare and cause to be printed ballots to be used at
said . special eleaction# and to cause a sample thereof to be pub-
lished as provided by law In za newspaper of general circulation
in the City of Evanston.
SECTION fit Nominations may be made by nomination
papers signed in the aggregate for
each candidate by qualified voters of said City equaling not
less than five percent nor more than eight percent of the number
of parsons who voted at the next preceding Municipal 8lecti,on
In said City. ;,aid nomination papers consisting of petitions for
nominations and statements of candidacy shall be fired after the
passage and approval of this o.rdinancet commOncing �Amzust 28 �

SECTION 7: This ordinance shall be in full force
and effect from and after its passage
and approval in the manner provided by ,law.
