HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCES-1971-029-O-7129-0-71 AN ORDINANCE Amending Chapter 29 and Chapter 42 of the Code of the City of Evanston, 1957, As Amended BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: SECTION 1: That Sec. 29-39 of the Code of the City of Evanston, 1957, as amended, be, and it is hereby repealed. SECTION 2: That Sec. 29-49 of the Code of the City of Evanston, 1957, as amended, be•amerided to provide as follows: • "Any person, when in or about any public place in the city, who shall be violating any provision of this Code or any statute of the State of Illinois shall immediately cease such violation upon the request of a police officer. It shall be unlawful for any person to refuse to obey the command or direction of a police officer under such circum- stances." SECTION 3: That Sec. 42-10 of the Code of the City of Evanston, 1957, as amended, be further amended to provide as follows: "No person or persons shall at any time assemble in or upon any public street, alley, or sidewalk of the city in such a manner as to obstruct or interfere with the free passage of vehicles in and along such street or alley, or with the free pas- sage of persons along said street or sidewalk, or in any manner harrass or intimidate any person seeking to use said public street, alley, or side- walk. Any person who refuses to obey an order of a police officer to disperse or to cease such act shall be guilty of a violation of this section." • • • 103 SECTION 4: This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval and publication in the manner provided by law.
