HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCES-1971-028-O-71As adopted 28-0-71 AN ORDINANCE Amending the Plumbing Code of the City of Evanston 110 WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Sanitary District of Greater Chicago has adopted supplemental design requirements which municipalities must conform to prior to acceptance by the Metro- politan Sanitary District for service; and WHEREAS, said requirements include overhead plumbing and foundation footing drains in all construction after December 31, 1970; • NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: SECTION 1: That Article 6 of the Plumbing Code of the City of Evanston be amended by adding thereto the following paragraph: "6.30 Overhead Plumbing 6.30.1 All new buildings erected after December 31, 1970 with basements, floors, rooms or occupancy areas below ground level at the building site and served by a public or private system shall have overhead plumbing. No building permit application will be accepted nor any permits issued for con- struction of any structure in a new building unless plans and specifications therefor provide for over- head plumbing in accordance with this section." SECTION 2: That Article 3 of the Plumbing Code of the City of Evanston be amended by adding thereto the following subparagraph: . 0 l j � "5.10.2 Footing drains shall be connected to sump pumps and discharge shall be made through storm sewers, combination sewers or drainage ditches. No footing drain or drainage tile shall be connec- ted to the sanitary sewer. After December 31, 1970, all construction in new buildings shall conform to the requirements of this paragraph. No building permit application will be accepted nor any permits issued for construction of any structure in.new buildings unless plans and specifications therefor provide for footing drains in accordance with the requirements of this subparagraph." SECTION 3: A certified copy of this ordinance, as adopted, shall be filed with the Metropolitan Sanitary District of Greater Chicago by the Director of Inspections and Permits. repealed.
