WHEREAS, the City of Evanston has been authorized by law to acquire real property for off-street parking purposes; and WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that it is neces- sary and convenient to acquire the real estate, hereinafter described, for off-street parking purposes; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: SECTION 1: That it is hereby determined that it is • necessary, convenient and desirable for the City of Evanston to establish off-street parking facilities in the City of Evanston on the property hereinafter described. SECTION 2: That it is hereby determined that it is necessary, convenient and desirable for the City of Evanston to acquire title to and possession of the following described real estate in the City of Evanston, County of Cook and State of Illinois, to wit: Lot eight (8), except the south fifty feet thereof and the south seventy feet of Lot nine (9) in Block Eight, Village of Evanston (now City of Evanston) a subdivision of part of Section 13, Township 41 North, Range 13, and Sections 7, 18, and 19, Township 41 North, Range 14, East of the Third Principal Meridian,, which real property is necessary, convene$nt and desirable for 0 off-street parking purposes. -2-. • • • SECTION 3: That the Corporation Counsel of the City 143 of Evanston, be, and he is hereby authorized, empowered and directed to negotiate for and on behalf of the City of Evanston with the owner or owners of the real property herein described for the purchase thereof by the City of Evanston, and in the event that the Corporation Counsel is unable to agree with the owner of said real property upon the compensation to be paid therefor, the Corporation Counsel of the City of Evanston is authorized, empowered and directed to cause condemnation pro- ceedings to be instituted for the purpose of acquiring for the City of Evanston title to and possession of the real property specifically described in this ordinance, in accordance with the eminent domain laws of the State of Illinois. SECTION 4: This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval in the manner provided by law. Introduced Adopted Attest: April 3 April 24 Maurice F.
