HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCES-1973-065-O-73• • • In Amended & Adopted July 30, 1973 65-0-73 AN ORDINANCE Amending the Evanston Zoning Ordinance, Adopted November 21, 1960, so as to remove from the list of permitted uses in any district where they are so listed and to make said uses special uses in those districts, hospitals and nursing homes, private clubs and lodges,.retirement homes and rooming houses. WHEREAS, the Zoning Amendment Committee conducted a public hearing on May 3, 1973, to consider amending the Evanston Zoning Ordinance to remove from the list of permitted uses in any district where they are so listed and to make said uses special uses in thoses districts, nursing homes, private clubs and lodges, retirement homes and rooming hourse, and the notice of said hearing was published in the manner required by law; and WHEREAS, the Zoning Amendment Committee has sub- mitted its report recommending said amendments, accompanied by findings of fact and specifying the reasons for the recommendations: NOW, THEREFORE,. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: SECTION 1: That Section VI, Subsection G, paragraph 1, of the Evanston Zoning Ordinance, as amended, be further i • - 2- tr. O4(3 amended so as to read as follows: 'I. Permitted Uses a. Dwellings --all types except apartment hotels. b. Churches. c. Hospitals. d. Parks and playgrounds. e. Recreational buildings and community centers, not operated for a profit. f. School --nursery, elementary and high. g. Home occupations --as regulated in this section, part A-1.' h. Signs --as regulated in Section, • part A-2. i. Uses and buildings accessory to the above permitted uses." SECTION 2: That Section VI, Subsection G, paragraph A 2, of the Evanston Zoning Ordinance, as amended, be further amended, so as to read as follows: "2. Special Uses a. Art galleries, libraries and museums not operated for profit. b. Automobile parking lots. • 0 ,• -3- 0 4 1 u c. Christmas tree sales lots. d. Convents, monasteries and theological schools. e, College, university and theological school dormitories. . Fraternities and sororities. g. Nursing homes but not including clinics and animal hospitals. h. Identification signs for lawfully established non-residential uses. i. Institutional headquarters for non- profit organizations. j. Institutions for the aged and childrer.. k. Private clubs and lodges not in- volving the conduct of business. 1. Public utility uses,...including outside telephone pay booths and public transportation facilities a such as shelter, terminals, parking areas, service buildings and turn arounds. m. Retirement homes. n. Rooming houses." SECTION 3: That Section VI, Subsection I, paragraph r. 0 '1 2 o4- 1, of the Evanston Zoning Orc13.n.^nce, be ariended by deleting subsection "b. :aomin .Houses", so that said paragraph shall hereafter read 'as follvws : "I. permitted Uses Uses pnrmlttoed in the R5 District."
