AN ORDINANCE
Amending the Evanston Zoning Ordinance,
Adopted November 21, 1960, for the pur-
pose of providing for -parking structures
exceeding twelve (12) feet in height.
WHEREAS, the Zoning Amendment Committee conducted a public
hearing on June 14, 1973, which was continued for further consider-
ation on June 21, 1973, to consider amending the Evanston Zoning
Ordinance for the purpose of providing for accessory parking
structures exceeding twelve (12) feet in height, and notice of
Said hearing was published in the manner provided by law; and
WHEREAS,_ the Evanston Zoning Amendment Committee has sub -
witted its report recommending the amending of Section IV.H.S.
and Section VI.G.2. of the Evanston Zoning Ordinance, accompanied
by findings of fact and specifying the reasons therefor:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION 1:
..That Section IV., Subsection H. paragraph 5 of the
Evanston Zoning Ordinance, as amended, be further amended,
so as to read as follows:
"5. No accessory building shall exceed twelve (12)
feet in height unless either (1) authorized
(in the manner required for a special use) as
a special or as accessory to a special use, or
(2) accessory to and located on the same lot
as a use permitted and located in a University,
Business, Commercial or Manufacturing District•.

SECTION 2:

That Section VI., Subsection G. paragraph 2 of the
Evanston Zoning Ordinance, as amended, be further amended, so
as to read as follows:
"2. Special Uses
a. Art galleries, libraries and museums not
for profit.
b. 4utomobile parking lots.
c. Automobile parking structures, either as
(1) a principal building or use, or (2) an
accessory building or use exceeding 12 feet
in height; provided that in either case,
such structure conforms to the height, yard,
lot coverage and floor area ratio'require-
ments applicable to principal buildings
containing no parking spaces.
d. Christmas tree sale lots.
-e. Convents, monasteries and theological schools.
f. College, university and theological school
dormitories.
g. Fraternities & Sororities.
h. Nursing homes but not including clinics and
animal hospitals.
i. Identification signs for lawfully established
non-residential uses.
j. Institutional headquarters for non-profit
organizations.
k. Institutions for the aged and children.
1. Private clubs and lodges not involving the
conduct of business.
m. Public utility uses, including outside telephone
pay booths and public transportation facilities
such as shelters, terminals, parking areas,
service buildings and turn arounds.
n. Retirement homes.
o. Rooming houses."
SECTION 3:
That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with
the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed.

SECTION 4:
That this ordinance shall be in full -force and -effect
from and after its passage, approval and publication in the manner
provided by law.
