Adopting a Comprehensive
General Plan
WHEREAS, the Planning Department, in cooperation with the
Plan Commission, has prepared a "Comprehensive General PlAp" --for the
future development and redevelopment of the City; and
WHEREAS, said Plan was prepared in accordance witli-,'theFpur-
pose of "The Planning Ordinance" (77-0-62) ; and )", � Pt,�
WHEREAS, said Comprehensive General Plan does contain, state-
ments of Community Objectives and Policies, a Land Use Plan, a Public
Transportation Plan, a Major Street Plan and a Public Facilities Plan;
and
WHEREAS, the Plan Commission did conduct intensive reviews of
said Plan and introduced said Plan to the public at a presentation on
October 131 1972, followed by an Official Public Hearing on November
15, 1972; and
WHEREAS, the Plan Commission did further make numerous
appearances to present said Plan to many civic, church, business and
neighborhood organizations; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Evanston has thorough-
ly reviewed and has amended the preliminary Comprehensive General
Plan submitted to it by the Plan Commission in January, 1973.
WHEREAS, a joint committee of the City Council and the Plan
Commission did conduct a final public hearing December 19, 1973, and
made subsequent amendments to said Plan; and
WHEREAS, the joint Council -Plan Commission Committee on the
Comprehensive General Plan has recommended to the City Council that
said Plan be adopted:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION I: That the Comprehensive General Plan prepared
by the Evanston Planning Department and Plan
Commission dated December, 1973, as revised, be and is hereby adopted
as the "Official Comprehensive General Plan of the City of Evanston".
SECTION 2: Said 1BComprehensive General Plan" shall be placed
on file in the Office of the City Clerk of the City
of Evanston and shall be available at all times during business hours
for public inspection.
40 SECTION 3: This ordinance shall be in full force and effect
following its passage and approval in the manner provided by law.

SECTION 4: Notice of adoption of said Plan shall be filed
with the County Recorder of Deeds.
