HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCES-1978-040-O-784/5/78 i 40-0-78 •� AN ORDINANCE i Authorizing The Advertising For Bids For The Sale Of 1515B Darrow Avenue WHEREAS, the City of Evanston is a party to a contract i to purchase the property commonly known as 1515B Darrow, Evanston, Illinois from the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development as a result of foreclosure of a federally insured f ! mortgage; and WHEREAS, said property consists of one unit of a two • unit townhouse development which is located in a residential area of the City; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Evanston has determined that it is not in the best interest of the.City to retain title to said real estate and further that said real estate is not required for the use of or profitable to the City of Evanston; and I WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Evanston has determined that it is in the best interest of the City to offer this property for sale in order to return it to the private housin inventor j g Y: t • • • 40-0-78 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY CQJNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: SECTION 1: That the City Manager be and is hereby authorized and directed to give notice of a proposal to sell real estate legally described as: i PARCEL 1: That part of Lot 9 lying West of a line drawn from a point in the North line thereof 58.82 feet East of the North West corner thereof to a point in the i South line thereof 61 feet East of the South West I corner thereof-, f ALSO PARCEL 2: I The South half of the East 20 feet as measured at right angles of Lot 9 all being in Block 11 in Hinman's Addition to Evanston being a Subdivision of the North West quarter of the South East quarter of Section 13, Township 41 North, Range 13, East of the Third Prin- cipal Meridian; j ALSO I PARCEL 3: Easements as set forth in the Declaration of Easements and Exhibit "1" and "2" thereto attached dated July 7, 1961 and recorded July 11, 1961 as document 18212271, made by Darrow Grove Homes, Inc.; an Illinois Corpora- tion, And as created by the Deed from Darrow Grove Hones, Inc., an Illinois corporation to Benjamin A. Green and Icyline Green, his wife, dated April 10, 1970 and recorded April 28, 1970 as document 21145325; (A) For the benefit of Parcels 1 and 2 aforesaid for ingress and egress over and upon the North 6 feet, as measured at right angles (except the East 50 feet as measured at right angles) of Lot 8 and the South 6 feet, as measured at right angles (except the East 50 feet, as measured at right angles) of Lot 9 all in Block 11 in Hinman's Addition to Evanston afore- said (excepting from the above that part falling in Parcel 1 aforesaid) ; -2- 40-0-78 (B) For the benefit of Parcels 1 and 2 aforesaid for ingress and egress over and upon the North 3 feet, as • i measured at right angles, of the East 50 feet, as measured at right angels of Lot 8; and the South 3 feet as measured at right angles of the East 50 feet, as measured at right angles of Lot 9 and the North 2 feet, as measured at right angles, of Lot 9; and the South 2 feet; as measured at right angles, of Lot 10; all in Block 11 in Hinman's Addition to Evanston aforesaid (excepting from the above those parts fall- ing in Parcels 1 and 2 aforesaid); all in Cook County, Illinois. SECTION 2: That said notice of a proposal to sell shall be published for three (3) successive weeks in a newspaper of general circulation in the City of Evanston. The first publication shall be not less than thirty 1 (30) days before the date provided in said notice for the open- ing of bids for the real estate. The corporate authorities may • accept the high bid or any other bid determined by them to be in the best interest of the City of Evanston. Corporate authorities may reject any and all bids. That property parcel proposed to be sold is presently improved by a structure which consists of one-half of a two unit townhouse and parking area. • The sale is subject to the following conditions: a) the purchasers -must be able to bring the property -4- 40-0-78 into compliance with the zoning, building and housing • codes of the City of Evanston within 120 days of deli- very to title or closing of the transaction; and b) the property shall be available for inclusion in the Sec- tion 8 rent subsidy program. A minimum bid of TWENTY THOUSAND DOLLARS ($20,000.00) shall be required. The City of Evanston hereby solicits bids for the pur- chase of said real estate. All such bids should be in writing and filed in the office of the City Manager, City of Evanston, Municipal Building, 1501 Oak Avenue, Evanston, Illinois 60204, on or before June 9, 1978 at the hour of 11:00 A.M. The City reserves the right to reject any and all bids. The City Council will consider all reasonable methods of conveying title including conventional financing, contract purchase, and cash." SECTION 4: All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. SECTION 5: This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval, and publication in the manner provided by law.
