HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCES-1978-033-O-78is 3/17/78 33-0-78 AN ORDINANCE Amending The Zoning Ordinance Of The City Of Evanston To Permit Off -Street Parking On Certain Parts Of Through Lots WHEREAS, the Zoning Amendment Committee conducted a public hearing on March 2, 1978 to consider amending the Zoning Ordinance to permit the use of a portion of a front yard to be utilized for off-street parking spaces pur- suant to notice and publication thereof in the manner provided by law; and • WHEREAS, the Zoning Amendment Committee has made its findings and recommendations to the City Council of the City of Evanston; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF i EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: SECTION 1: That Section IV.J.6 of the Evanston Zoning Ordinance, adopted November 21, 1960, as amended, be further amended by adding thereto a new subparagraph b. and relettering the existing subpara- graphs in conformance with such addition, which subparagraph b. shall read as follows: "b. Through Lots: Required off-street parking spaces or a private garage may be located in the front yard other than the required front yard of a through lot, provided all such spaces, regardless of the number, • i are screened in accordance with Section X.B.9.c." SECTION 2: That Section X.B.2.b. of the Evanston Zoning Ordinance adopted November 21, 1960, as amended, be further amended so as to read as follows: 'L 33-0-78 • "b. (Except for through lots, which are provided for separately in Section IV.J.) where parking spaces are located in the same lot as the principle use to which they are accessory, the following restriction on their locations shall apply: (1) In Residence and University Districts, parking spaces, except as hereinafter specified, shall not be located in a front yard or a required side yard or in any court area which opens to- ward a public street. (2) On any lot on which a dwelling is hereafter erected in Business and Commercial Districts, parking spaces shall not be located in a front yard or in a side yard adjacent to a street or in any court area which opens toward a public street. (3) Required parking spaces for one and two-family dwellings small not be located in a front yard or a required side yard, but surfaced drive- ways in such locations may be used as parking spaces in addition to those required by this ordinance. • SECTION 3: All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict here- with are hereby repealed. SECTIO14 4: This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval, and publication in the manner provided by law.
