HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCES-1978-087-O-7810/24/78 87-0-78 AN ORDINANCE Amending Chapter 4 Of The Code Of The City Of Evanston Creating A New Class of Liquor Licenses BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY,.ILLINOIS: SECTION 1: That Section 4-101 of the Code of the City of Evanston, 1957, as amended, is hereby further amended by adding thereto after the definition of Restaurant and before the definition of Wine the following definition: "University Area: As used in this ordinance the term University Area shall mean taht area of the City East of the East lien of Sheridan Road and South of the South line of Lincoln Street extended to the lake shore and Northeasterly of the Northeasterly line of that portion of Sheridan Road running in a generally Northwesterly and Southe terly direction south and east of the intersec- tion Sheridan Road at Chicago Avenue, and such line crea . d thereby extended to the lake shore, but excepting therefrom a corridor having a depth of 150 feet bounded by the North, South and West lines of said described area." SECTION 2: That Section 4-402 of the Code of the City of Evanston, 1957, as amended, be further amended by adding thereto subsection 5 which shall read as follows: "(5) Class E Licenses. Which shall authorize the sale on the premises specified of alcoholic liquor only for con- sumption upon the premises while food service is available. Such licenses shall be issued only to premises owned, oper- ated and maintained by not -for -profit educational institu- tions within the designated University Area. Establishments holding Class E licenses must have some food service avail- able when alcoholic liquor is being sold. Sales of alcoholic liquor by Class E licensees shall be to students, faculty, alumni, invited guests and staff of the licensee only. The term University Area shall be as defined in this ordinance. The annual fee for such license shall be TWO THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED SEVENTY-FIVE DOLLARS ($2,875.00). The total fee required hereunder for renewal applicants electing to make semi-annual payments shall be THREE THOUSAND NINETEEN DOL- LARS ($3,019.00), which sums shall be payable according to the provisions of Section 4-403. No more than one (1) such license shall be in force at any said time." It- 4 SECTION 3: All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict here- with are hereby repealed. SECTION 4: This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval, and publication in the manner provided by law.
