HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCES-1978-085-O-78-0 10/5/78, 10/12/78 • 85-0-78 AN ORDINANCE Authorizing Advertising,For Bids For The Sale Of I'lunicipally Owned Real Property Located At 1815 And 1817 Lemar Avenue WHEREAS, the City of Evanston is the owner of property hereinafter legally described; and WHEREAS, said property consists of two (2) adjoining parcels of undeveloped land measuring approximately 75 x 126 feet, located in a residen- tial area fronting on Lemar Avenue; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Evanston has determined that it is no longer necessary, appropriate, or in the best interest of the City of Evanston that it retain title to said real estate; and that said real estate is not required for the use of, or profitable to, the City of Evanston; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Evanston has determined that the best interest of the City of Evanston would be served by the convey- ance of said property to qualified persons who would develop it in conformity with residential use or special use zoning regulations applicable to the dis- trict; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF • EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: SECTION 1: That the City Manager be and is hereby authorized and directed to give notice of the proposal to sell real estate legally described as: M Parcel 1: Lot 20 and the North 5 feet of Lot 21, in Block 2, in Arthur T. McIntosh's Church Street Addi- tion to Evanston, being a Subdivision in the Southwest quarter of the Northwest quarter of Section 13, Town- ship 41 North, Range 13, East of the Third Principal Meridian, in Cook County, Illinois. Parcel 2: Lot 19 in Block 2 in A.T. McIntosh Church Street Addition, a Subdivision of Section 13, Township 41 North, Range 13, East of the Third Principal Mer- idian, in Cook County, Illinois, commonly known as 1815 and 1817 Lemar Avenue. 85-0-78 • SECTION 2: That said notice of a proposal to sell shall be pub- lished for three (3) successive weeks in a newspaper of general circulation in the City of Evanston. The first publication shall be not less than thirty (30) days before the date provided in said notice for the opening of bids for the real estate. The corporate authorities may aco. the high bid or any other bid determined by them to be in the best interest of the City of Evanston. Corporate authorities may reject any and all bids. SECTION 3: That the notice of proposal to sell any real estate shall be in substantially the following form: "Notice of Proposal to Sell Real Estate" "Public notice is hereby given that the City of Evanston proposes to sell the following described real estate, to wit: Parcel 1: Lot 20 and the North 5 feet of Lot 21, in Block 2, in Arthur T. McIntosh's Church Street Addi- tion to Evanston, being a Subdivision in the Southwest quarter of the Northwest quarter of Section 13, Town- ship 41 North, Range 13, East of the Third Principal Meridian, in Cook County, Illinois. Parcel 2: Lot 19 in Block 2 in A. T. McIntosh Church Street Addition, a Subdivision of Section 13, Township 41 North, Range 13, East of the Third Principal Mer- idian, in Cook County, Illinois. The property parcel proposed to be sold is an unimproved lot in a R-1 District with approximately 75 feet of front- age on Lemar Avenue at 1815 and 11817 Lemar Avenue. It has a depth of 126 feet. -2- • w l 't IN 85-0-78 The City of Evanston hereby solicits bids for the pur- chase of said real estate. All such bids should be in writing and filed in the office of the City Manager, City of Evanston, Municipal Building, 1501 Oak Avenue, Evanston, Illinois 60204, on or before December 29, 1978 at the hour of 11:00 A.M. The City reserves the right to reject any and all bids. - A minimum bid of $5,000.00 is required. Each bid should be accompanied by a cashiers or bank check in the amount of 5% of the bid. Said property is being sold subject to outstanding taxes, if any, prior to the date of acquisition by the City . e • SECTION 4: All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict here- with are hereby repealed.
