AN ORDIiNANCE
Amending Sections 27-12.13, 27-12.16,
27-12.18, and 27-22.17 Of The
Traffic Ordinance

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK
COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
j SECTION 1: That Section 27-12.13 of the Code of the City of

Evanston, 1957, as amended, be and hereby is further
amended to change the title from "Alternate Night Parking" to read "Street
�! Cleaning".
` SECTION 2: That Section 27-12.13 of the Code of the City of
f! Evanston, 1957, as amended, be and hereby is further

amended as follows:

"(a) Where it reads 'between the hours of nine o'clock
A.M. (9:00 A.M.) and three o'clock P.M. (3:00 P.M.)'
it shall read 'between the hours of nine o'clock
{f A.M. (9:00 A.M.) and four o'clock P.M. (4:00 P.M.)'.
Ii "(b) Where it reads 'between the hours of two o'clock
A.M. (2:00 A.M.) and six o'clock. A.M. (6:00 A.M.)'
it shall read 'between the flours of one o'clock A.M.
(1:00 A.M.) and eight o'clock A.M. (8:00 A.M.)'.
"(c) Where it reads 'between the hours of two o'clock
A.M. (2:00 A.M.) and six o'clock P.M. (6:00 P.M.) '

! SECTION 3: That Section.27-12.16 of the Code of the City of
�i Evanston, 1957, as amended, be and hereby is further
I� amended to read as follows:

"Sec. 27-12.16. Snow Emergency/Snow Rojte - stopping, standing,
parking prohibited.
A. Snow Route.
When signs have been erected giving notice thereof it shall
be unlawful for any person to stop, stand, park, or leave un-
attended any motor vehicle upon a designated snow route, within
the City during a SNOW EMERGENCY.
i3. Snow Emergency.
On all streets within the City limits other than snow
routes where signs have been erected giving notice thereof, and
when a snow emergency has been declared as defined in Section
27-12.17, parking is hereby prohibited from December 1 through
March 31 on the even street number side of -the street on even
dates of the month and on the odd street number side of the
street on odd dates of the month between the hours of 9:00 A.M.
and 9:00 P.M."
SECTION 4: That Section 27-12.18 of the Code of the City of
Evanston, 1957, as amended, be and hereby is further
amended to read as follows:
"Sec. 27-12.18. Snow Emergency - movement of narked vehicles.

,. Whenever a motor vehicle has been stopped, parked, or left

unattended after the inception of a Snow Emergency, upon a des-
ignated snow route tow away zone, or anywhere within the City,
said vehicle is 'hereby declared to be a traffic hazard and the
I Chief of Police shall order said motor vehicle removed pursuant
to the provisions of Sections 27-19.1 through 27-19.14 of this
yi ordinance, or other posted tow away zone within the City of
Evanston."

ji SECTION 5: That Section 27-22.17 of the Code of the City of
Evanston, 1957, as a4ended, be and hereby is further
amended to read as follows;
"Sec. 27-22.17. Parking Violation Penalties.

D. Street Cleaniny Penalty:
Vehicles in violation of posted street cleaning signs as
defined in Section 27-12.17 shall pay a penalty of Ten
Dollars ($10.00) plus a Ten Dollar ($10.00 additional
penalty if paid after the expiration of ten (10) days
from the date of issue.

E- Snow Emergency Penalty:
1. Snow Route
Vehicles on a snow route as defined in Sections
27-22.6 and 27-12.16 through 27-12.18 while a snow
emergency is in effect shall payt penalty of
Fifty Dollars ($50.00) plus Twenty Dollars ($20.00)
additional penalty if paid after the expiration
of ten (10) days from the date of issue.
2, Snow Emergency
Vehicles illegally parked as defined in Sections
27-12.16 and 27-12.17 on all streets other than
those defined by ordinance to be a snow route
shall pay a penalty of Twenty -Five Dollars
($25.00) plus a Twenty -Five Dollar ($25.00) addi-
tional penalty if paid after the expiration of
ten (10) days from the date of issue.
3. Tow Away and Storage
Vehicles towed from authorized tow away zones
shall be subject to a fine of Thirty -Five Dollars
($35.00) plus a Five Dollar ($5.00) a day storage
fee.
Any violator may avoid prosecution for violating the provisions
applicable to parking of motor vehicles before legal action has been
brought against him by surrendering the traffic ticket or other
notice of violation either received or placed upon a vehicle, and
paying to the Clerk of the Circuit Court.of Cook County, Second
Municipal District, within ten (10) days from the date appearing on
such violation, the sum pertaining to such violation as expressed
herein for the violation alleged. Any person making such payment
shall receive a receipt therefor from the C1 erk of the Circuit Court
of Cook County, Second Municipal District.
Notwithstanding the specific fines applicable to the violations
herein scheduled and additional penalties applicable in the event of
non-payment, the maximum fine to be imposed upon a finding of guilty
by a court of competent jurisdiction shall not exceed $250.00 for
each offense.
SECTIOi,,! 6: All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict here -
with are hereby repealed. i
SECTION 7: This ordlnann shall be in full force and effect from
and after its passage, approval, and publication in
the manner provided by law. ,
