AN ORDINANCE
To Acquire Certain Property for
City 'yard Purposes by Condemnation:
1243-45 Leon Place
WHEREAS, the City of Evanston has been authorized by the State
Constitution, Article I, Sections 2 and 15, and by Illinois Revised Statute,
Chapter 24, Section 11-61-1 to acquire property useful, advantageous, or
desirable for municipal purposes; and
WHEREAS, said City Council has heretofore determined that it is
necessary to acquire certain parcels of land for development of City storage
yards, said property as hereinafter described; and
WHEREAS, the City Manager of the City of Evanston has heretofore
• attempted to acquire such property by purchase and has reported to the City
Council of the City of Evanston the fact that he had been unable to agree
with the owners of said property as to the compensation to be paid therefor;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of
SECTION 1: It is necessary, convenient and desirable for the
City of Evanston to acquire title to the real property specifically set
forth in Section 2 hereof for the development of City storage yards.

SECTION 2: The real property which is necessary, convenient and
desirable to acquire for the purposes specified in Section 1 of thin,
ordinance is legally described as follows:
The East five and one-fourtb-(5-1/4) feet of Lot Eleven
• (11) and all of Lot Ten (10) in Leonhardt's Subdivision
of part of the Northwest Quarter of the Northwest Quarter
of Section Eighteen (18), Township Forty-one (41) North,
Range Fourteen (14), East of the Third Principal Meridian
in Cook County, Illinois, commonly known as 1243-45 Leon
Place, Evanston, Illinois.

SECTION 3: Title to and possession of said real property
specifically described in Section 2 of this ordinance shall be acquired by
the City of Evanston and the Corporation Counsel of the City is hereby
authorized, empowered and directed to institute proceedings in any court
of competent jurisdiction to acquire title to and possession of said
property for the City of Evanston in accordance with the eminent domain
laws of the State of Illinois.
SECTION 4: This ordinance shall take effect and be in full force
from and after its passage.
