HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCES-1980-003-O-80C] • AN ORDINANCE I� Amending Club Definition and the Number i of Authorized Class A and Class C Liquor Licenses I BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON COOK COUNTY; ILLINOIS: SECTION 1: That section 3-5-1 of Chapter 5 of the Code of the City of Evanston, 1980, by and hereby is amended to read as follows: i Club: An entity which at the time of license application has been incorporated under the laws of the State of Illinois and which shall have been in operation j as a club for one year prior to said application, j said club to have been organized solely for the pro- motion of some common object other than the sale or consumption of alcoholic liquors, kept, used and maintained by its members through the payment of annual dues, and owning, hiring or leasing a build- ing or space in building, of such extent and charac- ter as may be suitable and adequate for the reason- able and comfortable use and accomodation of its { members and their guests. SECTION 2: That section 3-5-6 of Chapter 5 be further amended to read as follows: ji l� (A) CLASS A licenses, which shall authorize the sale of j alcoholic liquors for consumption only on the pre- mises where sold and limited to members and their >> guests which may be issued only to clubs, as de- fined in this chapter, maintaining permanent club 1 quarters irrespective of the�size of their member- ships, The applicants for the renewal only of such licenses may elect to pay the amount required herein semi-annually or annually. Such election shall be made at the time of application. I The annual single payment fee for initial issuance or renewal of such licenses shall be ..... $1,150.00 The total fee required hereunder for renewal ap- plicants electing to make semi-annual payments, payable pursuant to the provisions of section 3-5-7 hereof, shall be.........................$1,208.00 No more than five (5) such licenses shall be in force at any one time. r 1 :1 0 i • 7 Approved as to form: (C) CLASS C licenses, which shall authorize the retail sale in restaurants only of alcoholic liquor for consumption on the premises where sold. No such license may be granted to or retained by an establish- ment in which the facilities for food preparation and service are not primarily those of a restaurant, as defined in section 3-5-1 hereof. It shall be un- lawful for any person licensed hereunder to sell alcoholic liquor at a bar, as defined in section 3-5-1 hereof, except to persons attending a recep- tion or party not open to the public. Alcoholic liquor may be sold in restaurants holding Class C licenses only during the period when their patrons are offered a complete meal. The applicants for the renewal of such licenses may elect to pay the amount required herein semi-annually or annually. Such election shall be made at the time of application. SECTION 3: All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. SECTION 4: This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval, and publi- cation in the manner provided by law.
