HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCES-1980-127-O-80Ll 12/3/80 127-0-80 AN ORDINANCE Authorizing the Lease of 2603 Sheridan Road to the Evanston Arts Center WHEREAS, it is appropriate and in the best interests of the City of Evanston to encourage the operation of a comprehensive community art and cultural center; and WHEREAS, the City of Evanston has leased since 1966 the property located at 2603 Sheridan Road for the above purposes to the Evanston Art Center, an Illinois not -for -profit corporation; and WHEREAS, said existing lease expires on December 31, 1980; and WHEREAS, it has been determined that it is in the best interest of the City to continue the operation of a comprehensive art and cultural center at 2603 Sheridan Road. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS that SECTION 1: The City Manager is authorized and directed to enter into a lease for the property commonly known as 2603 Sheridan Road and legally described as Lot 10 and 11 of Block 5 of Brown's Lake Grove addition to Evanston, a subdivision of part of Lots 35 to 38. in Baxter's share of the South Section of Quilmette, also parts of Lots 23 to 25 in George Smith's Subdivision of the South part of Quilmette Reserve in Township.42 North, Range 13, East of the Third Principal Meridian in Cook County, Illinois, commonly known as 2603 Sheridan Road, Evanston, Illinois • in accordance with a negotiated agreement with the Evanston Arts Center that such rental shall be for a period of fifteen (15) years on the follow- ing terms: . II ` I 127-0-80 12/ 3/ 80 i 1 a. that for the year 1981 the Evanston Arts Center shall pay 70% I� of the operational costs of the leased premises and $1.00 as annual rent. �! b. that for the year 1982 the Evanston Arts Center shall pay 80% j; of the operational costs of the leased premises and $1.00 as !, annual rent. C. that for the year 1983 the Evanston Arts Center shall pay 90% of the operational costs of said premises, and $1.00 as annual ;! rent. d. That commencing in 1984 and throughout the remaining term of the lease the Evanston Arts Center shall pay 100% of the operational costs of the leased premises, and $1.00 as annual rent. i SECTION 2: All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
