AN ORDINANCE
�1 Amending the Evanston City Code, 1979,
'i By Amending Section 10-8-1 and Adding
Thereto Section 10-8-3 (D) Relating to the
Wheel Tax Schedule of License Fees

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK
COUNTY, ILLINOIS:

ij SECTION 1: That Section 10-8-1 of the Evanston City Code, 1979,
�j as amended, be and hereby is further amended to read
i
IIj as follows:

10-8-1: License Required: It shall be unlawful for any person to use,
maintain, store for purposes other than sale, park or operate within the
City any motor vehicle registered or required to be registered with the
II Secretary of State, State of Illinois, to an address within the corporate
I) limits of the City, unless such vehicle is licensed as provided in this
Chapter.

A violation of the provisions of this Section shall to<e place when a motor
�i vehicle registered or required to be registered with the Secretary of State
to an Evanston address shall not have been licensed, w�ether or not said
I vehicle is actually in operation on the streets or public ways of the City.

j�If, at the time of application, a complaint is pending charging failure to
obtain or display said vehicle license, further prosecution may be avoided
jj by obtaining said license and paying the sum of ten dollars ($10.00) as a
penalty at the time of such application. Any person violating the pro-
visions of this Section shall be punished by a fine in, the amount of ten
dollars ($10.00) in the event that the violator has secured the required
vehicle license at the time of his court appearance but has not paid the
aforementioned penalty fee.
j SECTION 2: That Section 10-8-3 of the Evanston City Code, 1979,
as amended, be and hereby is further amended by
adding thereto the following:
10-8-3 (D): The annual license fee for all motor vehicles, antique motor
vehicles, automobile dealer plates, buses, recreationEl vehicles, motor-
cycles, taxicabs or livery cabs, trailers, motor trucks and tractor
trailers shall be increased in accordance with the following schedule where
jl obtained after February 15th of the license calendar year by persons whose
motor vehicles were registered or required to be registered in Evanston
on or before February 15th of said year. Said fee is to be in addition to
the fee set forth above in Section 10-8-3 (A).
Motor Vehicles used in the transportation of passengers and not for hire:

II55 horsepower or more .................................... 25.00
Antique motor vehicles as defined in Section 10-8-3(A)......... 2.50

SECTION 3: All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed.
SECTION 4: This ordinance shall be in full force and effect
after December 31, 1980 and its passage, approval,
and publication in the manner provided by law.
