HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCES-1980-069-O-807/1/80 AN ORDINANCE Granting Variations from the Use, Yard Obstruction and Yard Regulations, and Special Use at 2650 Ridge Avenue WHEREAS, the Evanston Zoning Board of Appeals conducted public hearings on June 17, 1980 and July 1, 1980 upon the application of Evanston i Hospital for special hospital use and variations from the use, yard ob- struction and yard regulations, and special use at 2650 Ridge Avenue; said 1hearings having been conducted pursuant to notice and publication thereof in the manner prescribed by law; and WHEREAS, the Zoning Board of Appeals has recommended that the ;application for said variations, and special use be granted; • NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF i'EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: i' SECTION 1: That the application of Evanston Hospital for the following: 1. A special use pursuant to Section 6-12-9-2 of the Zoning Ordinance to permit construction of an addition for the pur- pose of consolidating the hospital's cancer care facilities on property located in an R6 General Residence District; 2. A variation from the yard obstruction and yard regulations of the Zoning Ordinance to permit retention of transformer vaults located in the north side yard on property located in an R1 Single -Family Residence District; 3. A variation from the use, yard obstruction and yard regula- tions of the Zoning Ordinance to permit retention of an accessory building (salt shed) located in the north side yard on property located in an R1 Single -Family Residence District; 4. A variation from the use regulations of the Zoning Ordinance to permit retention of a regulatory sign reading "Ambulances Only" which is located on the City parkway (Girard Avenue) in • an R6 General Residence District; 5. A variation from the use regulations of the Zoning Ordinance to permit retention of a regulatory sign reading "Ambulance Entrance 100 Feet North" which is located on the City .parkway (Girard Avenue) in an R6 General Residence District; • 6. A variation from the use regulations of the Zoning Ordinance to permit retention of a regulatory sign reading "Ambulance Entrance, Hospital Parking, Make U-Turn," located on the City parkway in an R6 General Residence District; 7. A variation from the yard obstruction and use regulations of the Zoning Ordinance to permit retention of a regulatory sign reading "Evanston Hospital' Parking" on property located in an R6 General Residence District; 8. A variation from the use and yard obstruction regulations of the Zoning Ordinance to permit retention of a regulatory sign reading "Maximum Clearance 6'8" ", located in an R6 General Residence District; 9. A variation from the yard obstruction regulations of the Zoning Ordinance and special use to permit retention of an identification sign which is located in an R6 General Residence District; 10. A variation from the yard obstruction regulations of the Zoning Ordinance and a special use to permit retention of an identification sign reading "Emergency, Evanston Hospital Entrance" which is located in an R6 General Residence District; 11. A variation from the use and yard obstruction regulations of the Zoning Ordinance to permit retention of a sign providing parking rate data, and to allow a future change in the information provided • on said sign which is located in an R6 General Residence District;. 12. A special use to permit retention of an identification sign reading "Evanston Hospital" which is located in an R6 General Residence District; 13. A special use to permit retention of an identification sign bearing the hospital's logo which is located in an R6 General, Residence District; 14. A variation from the use regulations of the Zoning Ordinance to permit retention of a sign reading "Main Entrance" which is located in an R6 General Residence District; 15. A variation from the use regulations of the Zoning Ordinance to permit retention of a regulatory sign reading "Emergency" which is located in an R6 General Residence District; 16. A variation from the use regulations of the Zoning Ordinance to permit the retention of three regulatory signs each reading "Elevator, Stair With Directional Arrows" which are located in an R6 General Residence District; 17. A variation from the use regulations of the Zoning Ordinance to permit the retention of a regulatory sign reading "Do Not Enter" which is located in an R6 General Residence District; 18. A variation from the use regulations of the Zoning Ordinance • to permit retention of a regulatory sign reading "Exit" which is located in an R6 General Residence District; -2- 69-0-80 19-2. A variation from the use regulations of the Zoning Qrdi- nance to permit the retention of two (2) signs reading "No Parking • Anytime," on property located in an R6 General Residence District; 19-4. Variations from the yard obstruction and use regulations of the Zoning Ordinance to permit the retention of one (1) sign reading "Do Not Enter" on property located in an R6 General Residence District; 19-6. A variation from the use regulations of the Zoning Ordinance to permit the retention of one (1) wall warning sign in an alley drive at approximately 2700 Girard Avenue on property located in an R6 General Residence District; 19-7. A variation from the use regulations of the Zoning Ordinance to permit the retention -of one (1) wall warning sign in an alley drive at approximately 2700 Girard Avenue, on property located in an R6 General Residence District; 19-10. A variation from the use regulations of the Zoning Ordinance to permit the retention of one (1) painted wall sign on a loading dock on property located in an R6 General Residence District; 19-11. A variation from the use regulations of the Zoning Ordinance to permit the retention of one (1) wall sign on property located in an R6 General Residence District; 19-13. A special use to permit the retention of two (2) identifi- cation signs located on either side of the pedestrian bridge on property located in an R6 General Residence District; • 19-15. A variation from the use regulations of the Zoning Ordinance to permit the retention of one (1) wall sign reading "BURCH HALL," over an entry door on the south side of Burch Hall, on property lo- cated in an R6 General Residence District; 19-18. A variation from the use regulations of the Zoning Ordinance to permit the retention of one (1) wall sign reading "VISITORS PLEASE DO NOT ENTER," on a door on the west side of a structure identified as "Abott Laboratory Building," on property located in an R6 General Residence District; 19-20. A variation from the use regulations of the Zoning Ordinance to permit the retention of four (4) miscellaneous wall signs, on property located in an R6 General Residence District; 19-22. A variation from the use regulations of the Zoning Ordinance i to permit the retention of two (2) regulatory signs, one reading } "SLOW" and the other "STOP," at the exit and entrance respectively, to the northeast parking lot at approximately 2750 Ridge Avenue, on property located in an R6 General Residence District; 20. A variation from the yard regulations of the Zoning Ordinance ! to permit retention of a masonry stair wall which is 19 feet from the lot line instead of the 20 feet required on property located in it an R6 General Residence District; said application pertaining to property located at 2650 Ridge Avenue and • legally described as follows: Blocks 9 and 16 and 17 (except the West 60 feet of the South 120 feet of said Block 17) in University Subdivision of Lots 21, 22 1 and the South Half of Lot 20 in George Smith's Subdivision of i� -3- n �J 3 69-0-80 the South part of Archange Quilmette Reservation, excepting from said Blocks 9, 16 and 17 those parts thereof taken and used for streets; Also, Lots 1 to 56, all inclusive, together with that part of vacated Garrison Avenue lying West of and adjoining Lots 15 to 28, inclusive, and East of and adjoining Lots 29 to 42, inclusive, and that part of the vacated alley lying West of and adjoining Lots 29 to 42, inclusive, and East of and adjoining Lots 43 to 56, inclusive, all in Block.8 in Ira Brown's Subdivision of Blocks 5 to 8, in University Subdivision of Lots 21 and 22 and the South Half of Lot 20 of George Smith's Subdivision of the South part of Archange Quilmette Reservation; Also, Lot 35 (except the North 3.30 feet thereof), all of Lots 36 and 37, and the South 13.30 feet of Lot 38, together with that part of the vacated alley lying East of and adjoining Lot 37 and the South 13.30 feet of Lot 38, all in Block 1, in the University Subdivision of Lots 21, 22 and the South Half of Lot 20 in George Smith's Subdivision of the South part of Archange Quilmette Reser- vation; Also Lots 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 (except that part described as follows: Beginning at the Northeast corner of Lot 7 running West on the North boundary line of Lot 7 to the Northwest corner of Lot 7; thence South on the West boundary lines of Lots 7 and 8 a dis- tance of 40 feet; thence East parallel with the North boundary line of Lot 7 and 40 feet distant therefrom, to the East boundary line of said Lot 8; thence North on the East boundary lines of Lots 8 and 7 to the place of beginning) in Block 1 in University Subdivision of Lots 21 and 22 and the South Half of Lot 20 in George Smith's Subdivision of part of Archange Quilmette Reservation, (excepting from the above described property that part thereof, if any, lying within the North 16.67 feet of said Lot 8), all in the Southwest 1/4 of Section 35, Township 42 North, Range 13 East of the Third Principal Meridian, in Cook County, Illinois be and hereby is granted, subject to compliance with all other requirements of the Zoning Ordinance and other applicable laws. SECTION 2: The Director of Inspections and Permits is hereby directed to issue such permit pursuant to the terms of this ordinance.
