HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCES-1980-049-O-80F 4/29/80 • M• 1 :1 Amending Title 3, Chapter 19, Section 3 of the Evanston City Code BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: SECTION I: That the Evanston City Code, 1979, as amended, be and ` hereby is further amended by revising Sections 3-19-3-1 and 3-19-3-4 to read as follows: 3-19-3-1: LICENSE REQUIRED: (A) No person shall operate a public passenger vehicle without having first obtained a license therefor. No motor .vehicle other than a taxicab, livery cab or other passenger vehicle licensed and operated pursuant to the terms of this Chapter shall be operated upon the public ways for the purpose of transporting passengers for hire within the City. No vehicle licensed in the City shall be licensed in any other muni- cip<<1 ity. (B) No person shall operate a rent -a -car business without having first applied for a business license and paid vehicle license fees therefor. 3-19-3-4: SCHEDULE OF FEES: LICENSE EXPIRATION DATE: Licenses issued pursuant to this Chapter shall expire on December 31 following the date of issuance. (A) The license fees per vehicle shall be as follows: Rent -a -car Livery cabs Taxicabs Initial issuance Renewal Transfer Sightseeing Vehicles, Motor coaches or buses other than those operated by a duly licensed public utility $ 15.00 per annum 100.00 per annum 1,000.00 100.00 500.00 20.00 per annum The initial license fees for taxicab s provided herein shall apply to licenses issued on or after April 1, 1978. The initial license shall be deemed to apply to each transaction whereby an authorized • license is issued to a new applicant for such license. Initial license fees shall not apply to transfers of licenses authorized by the provisions of this Chapter. • • 0 49-0-80 i (B) Addition to Other Fees: The vehicle license fees established by subsection (A) above shall be in addition to all other State and City vehicle fees and also to such compensation as may be required to be paid for the use of the public ways of the City by any ordinance granting authority to operate public passenger vehicles upon such public ways. SECTION 2: All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. SECTION 3: This ordinance shall be in full force and effect i from and after its passage, approval and publication in the manner provided by law.
