AN ORDINANCE
Amending Title 3, Chapter 2 of
the City Code by Addition of Section
(11), Automobile Renting Use Tax Act
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK
COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION 1: That Title 3, Chapter 2 of the Code of the City of
Evanston, 1979, as amended, be and hereby is further
amended by the addition of the following Section 3-2-11.
3-2-11: AUTOMOBILE RENTING USE:
(A) A tax is hereby imposed upon the privilege of using in the city an
automobile which is rented from a rentor outside Illinois and
which is titled or registered with an agency of this state's
government in the city at the rate of one percent of the rental
price of such automobile while this ordinance is in effect, in
accordance with the provisions of Section 8-11-8 of the Illinois
Municipal Code.
(B) The tax provided for in this ordinance shall be collected from
the persons whose Illinois address for titling or registration
purposes is given as being in this city.
(C) The tax imposed by this ordinance shall be paid to the Illinois
Department of Revenue.
(D) The city clerk is hereby directed to transmit to the State De-
partment of Revenue a certified copy of this ordinance not later
than five (5) days after the effective date of this ordinance.
SECTION 2: All ordinances or parts of ordinances .in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed.
SECTION 3: This ordinance shall be effective on the first
day of the second calendar month next following publication as pro-
vided in Municipal Code Section 1-2-4. Certified proof of publication shall
be forwarded to the Illinois Department of Revenue along with the certified
copy of this ordinance as required by 3-2-11 (D).
