AN ORDINANCE
Amending Section 6-4-5, Title 6, Chapter.4 of the
Evanston City Code, 1979, To Exempt Municipal
Water Storage Facilities from Applicable District
Height Regulations
WHEREAS, the Evanston Zoning Amendment Committee conducted public
hearings beginning on August 5, 1982 and continuing on September 2, 1982,
upon a reference from the City Council to allow improvements in the munici-
pal water system, said improvements to pertain to planned replacements of
elevated water tanks in an M3 restricted manufacturing district; and
WHEREAS, based upon evidence presented at those hearings, findings
of fact, consideration of existing conditions, conservation of property
values, and the direction of building development to the best advantage of
the entire City, the Zoning Amendment Committee has recommended that certain
amendments are clearly favoredby a preponderance of the evidence and are
required for the public good.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION 1: That Title 6, Chapter 4 of the Evanston City Code,
1979, as amended, be and hereby.is further amended
so that Section 6-4-5(B) shall read as follows:
6-4-5: USES PERMITTED IN ALL DISTRICTS:
(B) Any governmental or proprietary function
owned or operated by a municipality is a permitted use
in any district, but such use must conform with other
requirements herein set forth for the district in
which it is located. Notwithstanding Section 6-8-f(E),'
elevated municipal water storage facilities may be
erected to a maximum height of 133 feet in M3 i
Restricted Manufacturing Districts.
