HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCES-1982-087-O-828/ 11/82 8/ 16/ 82 8/24/82 9/ 15/82 • AN ORDINANCE Granting a Special Use at 503-11 Michigan Avenue WHEREAS, the Evanston Zoning Board of Appeals conducted a public hearing on July 20, 1982 and again on August 17, 1982, upon the application of the First National Bank & Trust Company as trustee under Trust R-2386, John A. Schrader, Walter H. Kihm, Jr. and George Cyrus, Jr., beneficiaries, and the North Shore Association for the Retarded, Inc., contract purchaser, for a special use to permit construction of a one -and -one half story nursing home to be used as a residence for a maximum of twelve develop- mentally disabled adults at 503-11 Michigan Avenue, Evanston, Illinois, located in an R-6 General Residence District; said hearings having been conducted pursuant to notice and publication thereof in the manner pres- scribed by law; and WHEREAS, the Zoning Board of Appeals has recommended that the application for said permit be granted; and WHEREAS, recent data indicate that there is a significant need for housing of this kind for Evanston residents, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: SECTION 1: That the application of the First National Bank & Trust Company as trustee under Trust R-2396, John A. Schroder, Walter H. Kihm, Jr., and George Cyrus, Jr., beneficiaries, and the North Shore Association for the Retarded, Inc., as contract purchaser, for a special use to permit construction of a one -and -one-half story nursing home to be used as a residence for a maximum of twelve develop- mentally disabled adults on the property located at 503-11 Michigan Avenue, and legally described as follows: Lots 5 and 6 in Block 14 in Keeney & Rinn's Addition to Evanston, • a subdivi$ion of the south half of the south half and the south half of the north half of the south half of the SE 1/4 of Section 19, Township 41 North, Range 14, East of the third principal meridian., in Cook County, Illinois is granted subject to compliance with all other provisions of the Zoning Ordinance, other applicable laws and the condition that it be constructed , i 87-0-82 i in accordance with the plans submitted and identified as Board's Exhibit 1. The special use shall be limited to ownership and operation by the North Shore Association for the Retarded, Inca Preference shall -be given to j the application of Evanston residents for initial occupancy and thereafter. I Residents from other communities can be accepted only after the North Shore Association for the Retarded has demonstrated that efforts to inform the Evanston community of the availability of the facility have fail6d to produce I sufficient applicants among Evanston residents who would be suitable for this type of living arrangement. j SECTION 2: The Director of -Building and Zoning is hereby directed Y to issue such permit pursuant to the terms of this ordinance.
