AN ORDINANCE
Vacating a Public Alley
at.Davis Street, Grove Street '
and Sherman Avenue
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK
`i COUNTY, ILLINOIS:

SECTION 1:- That a portion of the public alley located in the block
' I
bounded on the north by Davis Street, on the South by Grove Street, on the
East by Sherman Avenue, and on the West by the C.T.A. right-of-way and
I
legally described as:
Beginning at the Southwest corner of Lot 3 in Langworthy's Sub-
division of Block 64 in the Village (now City) of Evanston,
i in the SW-14 of Section 18, Township 41 North, Range 14, East of
the Third Principal Meridian, in.Cook County, Illinois; thence j
East on the South line of Lots 2 and 3, in said Langworthy's
Subdivision, 83.77 feet to the Southeast corner of said Lot 2;
thence Southwesterly on the Easterly line of said Lot 2 extended
South, 14.10 feet to the South line of a 14 foot public alley;
thence West on the South line of said 14 foot alley, 82.05 feet
to a point on the West line of said Lot 3 extended South; thence
North on the West line of said Lot 3 extended South, 14.0 feet
to the place of beginning.
as cross -hatched, measured and indicated by the words, "PUBLIC ALLEY HEREBY

VACATED" on the plat dated August 20, 1981 by registered land surveyor 1487,
hereto attached and made a part of this ordinance is hereby vacated and
closed, inasmuch such alley serves no public purpose.
SECTION. II: The First National Bank and Trust Company of Evanston
and The First National Bank and Trust Company of Evanston under trust agree-
ment dated March 17, 1975 commonly known as trust number R-1809, the
adjacent property owners which shall be benefited by such vacation; shall pay
to the City of Evanston the sum of Five Thousand Five Hundred Dollars and 1
no cents ($5,500.00) in consideration for the vacation thereof.
•SECTION III: The City of Evanston hereby reserves to itself and

!� license and easement rights to such equipment as is presently installed and

;{ located on those portions of the public right-of-way hereby closed together
i with.the right of ingress and egress for the maintenance, renewal and

reconstruction thereof.

SECTIOfd IV: All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict here-

!; with are hereby repealed.

SECTION V: This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from

and after its passage, approval, and publication in the manner provided by
law.
