AN ORDINANCE
Amending Title 3, Chapter 13, Relating to Peddlers
and Soliciters, by Adding Sections 3-13-9,
3-13-10 and 3-13-11; Deleting Sections 8-17-13-3,
8-7-13-4 and 8-7-13-5, all of the Evanston City
Code, 1979
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Evanston has determined
that certain provisions of the Evanston City Code regulating the peddling
of goods on streets within the City should be classified as business regula-
tions relating to peddlers and solicitors;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION 1: Title 8, Chapter 7 of the Evanston City Code of 1979,
as amended, is hereby further amended by the deletion
of Sections 8-7-13-3, 8-7-13-4 and 8-7-13-5.
SECTION 2: Title 3, Chapter 13 of the Evanston City Code of 1979,
as amended, is hereby further amended to read as follows.'
3-13-9: Evanston Township High School Area: On days when school is in
session at Evanston Township High School, it shall be unlawful
for any peddlers to sell or offer for sale any food, beverages, or any
other merchandise whatsoever on the following streets:
On Church Street between Pitner Avenue and Dewey Avenue,
On Dodge Avenue between Lyons Street and Dempster Street, or
On Lake Street between Pitner Avenue and Darrow Avenue.
On days when events are being conducted within the Evanston Township
School Memorial Stadium, it shall be unlawful for any peddler to sell
or offer for sale any food, beverages, or any other merchandise whatso-
ever on the following streets:
On Church Street between McDaniel Avenue and Dewey Avenue,
On Hartrey Avenue between Emerson Street and Church Street,
On Lyons Street between Leland Avenue and Hartrey Avenue, or
On Pitner Avenue between Church Street and Lake Street.
3-13-10: Hours Peddling Prohibited: It shall be unlawful for any
person to peddle food products from trucks or other vehicles
on the public streets, sidewalks or public ways of the City before the
hour of eight o'clock (8:00) A.M. and after the hour of nine o'clock
(9:00). P.M.

3-13-11: Vehicle Restrictions: The vehicles used for such peddling
shall not be permitted to park or stand in any location on
the public streets except where the parking of motor vehicles is per-
mitted under the provisions of this Code, and the parking or standing
of such vehicles on the streets or public ways except in lawful parking
places is prohibited. The vehicle of such peddler shall not be per-
mitted on the public streets within a given block for more than one
period not to exceed one-half (2) hour during any calendar day.
SECTION 3: Any ordinance or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed.
SECTION 4: This ordinance.shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage, approval and publication
in the manner provided by law.
