AN ORDINANCE
Amending the Evanston City Code, 1979
by Revising Sections 3-19-3-11(A) and
f' 3-19-6-3(A)

SECTION 1: That Section 3-19-3-11(A) of the Evanston City Code, 1979,
as amended, be and hereby is further amended to read as
follows:
3-19-3-11: NAME AND COLOR IDENTIFICATION:
(A) IDENTIFICATION DISPLAY: Each vehicle licensed as a taxicab shall display
on each side front door or front fender, and on the trunk, and in a conspic-
uous place within the passenger compartment, the name of the owner of the
vehicle, the association to which it belongs and the vehicle identification
number assigned such vehicle by the City Collector. Such identification shall
be lettered in U.S. Standard Series E print, not less than 2 inches (2") in
height.
SECTION 2: That Section 3-19-6-3(A) of the Evanston City Code, 1979, as
amended, be and hereby is further amended to read as follows:
3-19-6-3: SCHEDULE OF RATES AND CHARGES:

(A) The following schedule of rates and charges, which is hereby declared to
be just and reasonable, computed according to the number of passengers, the
distance traveled, and the time computed as indicated by the taximeter instal-j
led in each taxicab, shall be effective commencing October 1, 1983:
$1.00 for the first one -quarter mile or fraction thereof: j
.45 for each additional one-half mile;
.50.for the second and additional passenger excepting
children age 12 and under
.10 for each one-half minute of waiting time I
The fixed rate for a ride for persons registered to participate in the Senior
Citizen/Ambulatory Handicapped Taxicab Program shall be two dollars and fifty ?
cents ($2.50). Eligible riders must be Evanston residents of sixty (60) years
of age or older, or those who are ambulatory handicapped, but the availability!
of assistance shall be limited to those senior citizens who provide a written
affidavit of need. Riders must be taken only within the corporate boundaries
of the City, twenty-four (24) hours a day, seven (7) days a week. (Ord. 29-

SECTION 3: This ordinance shall be in full force and effect after its
passage, approval and publication in the manner provided
law.
