Granting a Variation and Special Uses
at 1300 Oak Avenue
WHEREAS, the Evanston Zoning Board of Appeals
conducted a public hearing on October 16, 1984 upon the
application of Ross S. Brown and F. Quentin Brown, Jr., as
beneficiaries under the First National Bank & Trust Company of
Evanston, Trust R-2758, for (1) a variation from the yard
obstruction regulations of the Zoning Ordinance to permit
installation of a canopy in the front yard and a canopy in part
in the north side yard and rear yard; (2) a special use to
permit two identification signs, each reading "The Oakwood
Terrace," to appear upon the proposed front yard canopy; and
(3) a special use to permit construction of a 13.5' by 24' room
addition on the second floor to allow expansion of said room
from one bed to four beds, to a total of 58 beds for property
located at 1300 Oak Avenue, Evanston, Illinois, in an R6
General Residence District; said public hearing having been
conducted pursuant to notice and publication thereof in the
manner prescribed by law; and
WHEREAS, the Zoning Board of Appeals has recommended
that the application for said variation and special use be
granted;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION 1: That the application of Ross S. Brown
and Quentin Brown, Jr., as beneficiaries
under the First National Bank & Trust Company of Evanston,
Trust R-2758 for (1) a variation from the yard obstruction
regulations of the Zoning Ordinance to permit installation of a
canopy in the the front yard is denied; and for (2) a variation
from the yard obstruction regulations of the Zoning Ordinance
128-0-84
to permit installation of a canopy located in part in the north
side and rear yard; and for (3) a special use to permit
! construction of a 13.5 foot by 24 foot room addition on the

• i second floor, property located at 1300 Oak Avenue, Evanston,
Illinois, and legally described as follows:
Lot 1 in Catherine M. White's Resubdivision of Block 43 in
the Village of Evanston, in Cook County, Illinois. •(In
the West half of the southwest quarter of Section 18,
township 41 North, Range 14, East of the Third Principal
Meridian),

is granted subject to compliance with all other applicable
provisions of the Zoning Ordinance of the City Code of the City
of Evanston, as amended, and all other applicable laws.
SECTION 2: The Director of Building and Zoning

is directed to grant such permits
pursuant to the terms of this ordinance.
SECTION 3: This ordinance shall be in full force
and effect from and after its passage and
