Amending Section 6-10-6 of the
Evanston Zoning Ordinance
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Evanston
referred to the Zoning Amendment Committee a petition by Dobson
Plaza, Inc., 120 Dodge Avenue, Evanston, Illinois to create an
exception from the elimination provisions contained in Section
6-10-6 for existing nursing homes; and
WHEREAS, the Zoning Amendment Committee conducted a
public hearing on September 6, 1984°to consider said amendment
to the Zoning Ordinance pursuant to notice and publication in
the manner prescribed by law; and
WHEREAS, the Zoning Amendment Committee has
recommended, based on evidence presented at said public
• hearing, findings of fact, consideration of existing
conditions, conservation of property values and the direction
of building development to the best advantage of the entire
City, that the Evanston Zoning Ordinance be amended;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
(G):
SECTION 1: That Section 6-10-6 be amended by
adding the following new subparagraph
(G) Exception: Notwithstanding the above provisions,
nursing homes located in an R5 District, which became
a legally established nonconforming use due to an
amendment of the zoning ordinance,shall not be
subject to the elimination provisions of this Section
6-10-6.

SECTION 2: All ordinances or parts of ordinances
in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
SECTION 3: This ordinance shall be in full force
• and effect from and after its passage,
approval, and publication in the manner provided by law.
