AN ORDINANCE
Amending the Evanston Zoning Ordinance by
Rezoning the Property Commonly Known as
1830 Sherman Avenue
WHEREAS, Frank T. Whelby, contract purchaser, and Northwestern
University, property owner, petitioned the Zoning Amendment Committee to
amend the Evanston Zoning Ordinance by rezoning the property described
herein; and
WHEREAS, the Zoning Amendment Committee conducted a public hearing
on July 12, 1984 to consider said amendment to the Evanston Zoning Ordinance
pursuant to notice and publication in the manner prescribed by law; and
WHEREAS, the Zoning Amendment Committee has recommended, based on
evidence presented at those public hearings, findings of fact, consideration
of existing conditions, conservation of property values and the direction of
building development to the best advantage of the entire City, that the
Evanston Zoning Ordinance be amended;

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION 1: That the Evanston Zoning Ordinance, adopted
December 4, 1978, as amended, be and hereby is further
amended by reclassifying from R7 General Residence District to B4 Business
District, property commonly known as 1830 Sherman Avenue, including the
abutting half of the surrounding public rights -of -way, and legally described
as follows:
All that Part of Lots 1 and 2, Block 8, Village of Evanston,
Lying N.E.'ly on a Line Described as Follows: Beginning at
a Point on the West Line of Lot 1, 83 Ft. South of the
North Line of Said Lot 1; Hence S.E.'ly to the East Line
of Lot 2 at a Point 60.68 Ft. South of the North Line of
Said Lot 2, in the N.W. 4 of Section 18, Township 41
North, Range 14, East of the Third Principal Meridian,
in Cook County, Illinois.

SECTION 2: The official district map of the Evanston Zoning
Ordinance, as amended, shall be further amended in -
accordance with the reclassification set forth .in this ordinance.

H SECTION 3: All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
j herewith are hereby repealed.
SECTION 4: This ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after its passage, approval, and publication
in the manner provided by law.
