HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCES-1984-107-O-848/27/84 C] • is AN ORDINANCE Amending Provisions on Municipal Elections BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: SECTION 1: That Title 1, Chapter 13 of the City Code of the City of Evanston, 1979, as amended, is hereby further amended to read as follows: CHAPTER 13 MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS SECTION: 1-13-1: Elections and Public Policy Questions 1-13-2: Local Election Officials 1-13-3: Forged Signatures on Petitions 1-13-4: Wards and Precincts 1-13-4-1: First Ward 1-13-4-2: Second Ward 1-13-4-3: Third Ward 1-13-4-4: Fourth Ward 1-13-4-5: Fifth Ward 1-13-4-6: Sixth Ward 1-13-4-7: Seventh Ward 1-13-4-8: Eighth Ward 1-13-4-9: Ninth.Ward 1-13-1: ELECTIONS AND PUBLIC POLICY QUESTIONS: Municipal elections and questions of public policy in the City of Evanston shall be held in accordance with Chapter 24 and 46 of the Illinois Revised Statutes. 1-13-2: LOCAL ELECTION OFFICIAL: The City Clerk is the local election official for the City of Evanston. 1-13-3: FORGED SIGNATURES ON PETITIONS: Whenever it may be necessary in order to procure a license, permit, grant or privilege of any kind, or to obtain a referendum vote on any proposition, to secure signatures to a petition for the same under any provision of this Code or other ordinance of the City, or under any law or ordinance affecting the whole or any part of the City now or hereafter in force, it shall be unlawful for any person to forge the signature or procure the forging of .the signature to the same of any person who is by law qualified to sign such petition, or to sign or procure the signing of a fictitious name to.such petition by payment of money or other valuable thing to the person so signing. 107-0-84 1-13-4: WARDS AND PRECINCTS: The City is hereby divided into nine (9) wards, all in Evanston Township. Precinct boundaries shall be those as established and revised by the Cook County Board of Commissioners. 1-13-4-1: FIRST WARD: All that part of the City • bounded and described as follows: Commencing j at a point being the center line of the right-of-way of the Chicago Transit Authority and the center line of Noyes i Street; thence north along the center line of said l right-of-way to the center line of Colfax Street; thence east along said center line and the same produced of Colfax Street to the shore of Lake Michigan; thence south along said shoreline to the center line produced of Hamilton Street; thence west along said center line of Hamilton Street to the center line of Sheridan Road; thence north along said center line of Sheridan Road to the center line of Burnham Place; thence west along said center line of Burnham Place to the center line of Forest Avenue; thence north along said center line of Forest Avenue to the center line of Dempster Street; thence west along said center line of Dempster Street to the center line of Judson Avenue; thence north along said center line of Judson Avenue to the center line of Lake Street; thence j west along said center line, and the same produced of Lake Street to the center line of the right-of-way of the Milwaukee Division of the Chicago and Northwestern Railway i Company, thence north along the center line of said right-of-way to its intersection with the center line produced south of Maple Avenue as opened north of Church i Street; thence north along said center line and the same fproduced at Maple Avenue to the center line of Emerson Street, thence east along said center line of Emerson • Street to the center line of the right-of-way of the Chicago Transit Authority Railway; thence north along said I right-of-way of the Chicago Transit Authority Railway to Foster Street, thence east along said center line of Foster Street to the center line of Sherman Avenue; thence north along the center line of Sherman Avenue to the center line of Noyes Street; thence west along the center line of Noyes Street to the point of beginning.
