HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCES-1984-060-O-84` 4/27/84 i 5/9/84 60-0-84 AN ORDINANCE Regarding Regulation ii of Temporary Uses j WHEREAS, the Evanston Zoning Amendment Committee •' i conducted public hearings on March 1, 1984, March 15, 1984', and April 19, 1984, upon a reference from the Evanston City Council, to amend Section 6-4-5, or any other related provision of the •,. I Evanston Zoning Ordinance, to authorize and regulate temporary events such as, but not limited to, carnivals, benefits and services; said public hearings having been conducted pursuant to notice and publication thereof in the manner prescribed by law; and (� WHEREAS, based upon evidence presented at the I hearing, findings of fact, consideration of existing conditions, conservation of property values and ,the direction ` of building development to the best advantage of the entire City, the Evanston Zoning Amendment Committee has recommended I • that certain amendments are required for the public good; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF • THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: SECTION 1: That Section 6-4, ZONING DISTRICTS, of the Evanston City Code, 1979, as amended, • be and hereby is further amended by adding Section-6-4-6 to • +� read as follows: . ! 6-4-6: TEMPORARY USES: Temporary uses and events such as public amusements or other public activities may be permitted in any Residence, Business, Commercial or Manufacturing District, pursuant to a permit that may be issued upon written application to the City Manager and with the concurrence of the City Council. (For regulations pertaining to temporary open sales in Business and Commercial Districts, see Section 6-7.) However, in any residence district, such temporary uses and events may only be authorized when sponsored by and for the benefit of not -for -profit, charitable, eleemosynary or governmental entities that are a permitted or established special.use in the • district and held on property owned or controlled by such entities. The City Manager and the City Council, in connection with the issue of any temporary use and n .I 60-0-84.
