AN ORDINANCE
Amending Title 3, Chapter 5,
of the City Code of the City of Evanston,
Liquor Control Regulations,
Pertaining to Employment of
and Sales to Minors
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK
COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION 1: That Section 3-5-11 of Title 3, Chapter 5, of the
City Code of the City of Evanston, 1979, as amended
be and hereby is further amended as follows:
3-5-11: SALES TO MINORS, CERTAIN PERSONS RESTRICTED:
(A)' No licensee or officer, associate, member, representative,
agent or employee of such licensee shall sell, give or
deliver alcoholic liquor to any person under the age of
twenty-one (21) years, nor to any intoxicated person, nor
to any person known by him or her to be under legal dis-
ability or in need of mental treatment. No person, after
purchasing or otherwise obtaining alcoholic liquor, shall
sell, give or deliver such alcoholic liquor to another
person under twenty-one (21) years of age except.in the
performance of a religious ceremony or service.
(B) It shall be unlawful for any. person under the age of twenty-
one (21) years to misrepresent his age for the purpose of
purchasing or obtaining alcoholic•liquor in any place in the
City where alcoholic liquor is sold.
(C) In every place in the City where alcoholic liquor is sold,
there shall be displayed at all times in a prominent place
a printed card which shall be supplied by the City Collector
and which shall read substantially as follows:
"WARNING to Persons Under 21 Years of Age
You are subject to a fine up to $500.00 under the ordinances
of the City of Evanston if you purchase alcoholic liquor,
or misrepresent your age for the purpose of purchasing or
obtaining alcoholic liquor."
(D) It shall be unlawful for any holder of a liquor license, or
his agent or employee, to suffer or permit any minor to be
or remain in any room or compartment adjoining or adjacent
to or situated in the room or place where such licensed
premises is located; provided,that this subsection shall not
apply to any minor who is accompanied by his parent or
guardian, or to any licensed premises which derives its
principal business from the sale of service or other com-
modities than alcoholic liquor.

(E) In addition to
all other fines and penalties, the
Local
Liquor Control
Commissioner may revoke the liquor
dealer's
a
license for any
violation of the above subsection.
(F) It shall be unlawful
for any parent or guardian to
permit
any minor child
of which he shall be the parent to
violate
i
any provisions of this Section.
SECTION 2: That Title 3, Chapter 5, of the City Code of the City
of Evanston, 1979, as amended, be and hereby is further
amended by the addition of a new Section 3-5-12, pertaining to Employment of
Minors, to read as follows:
3-5-12: EMPLOYMENT OF MINORS:
(A) No licensee or officer, associate, member, representative,
agent or employee of such licensee shall employ on its
premises any person under the age of eighteen (18) years
to attend bar, or to pour, draw, mix or serve alcoholic
liquor on said premises.
(B) No licensee of a Class H liquor license or any officer,
associate, member, representative, agent or employee of
such licensee engaging in the retail sale of packaged
alcoholic liquor shall employ on its premises any person
under the age of twenty-one (21) years to sell packaged
alcoholic liquor.'
SECTION 3: That the remaining sections following the new Section
3-5-12 of Title 3, Chapter 5, of the City Code of the
City of Evanston, 1979, as amended, be renumbered 3-5-13, 3-5-14, 3-5-15,
3-5-16 and 3-5-17.
SECTION 4: All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith are hereby repealed.
SECTION 5: This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from
and after its passage, approval and publication in the
manner provided by law.
