HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCES-1985-111-O-859/25/85 111-0-85 AN ORDINANCE Granting a Special Use for the Expansion of an Existing Synagogue • at 1817-21 Howard Street WHEREAS, the Evanston Zoning Board of Appeals conducted a public hearing on September 10, 1985 upon the application by the Sephardic Congrega- tion of the Israelite Portuguese Fraternity for a special use to permit expansion of the existing synagogue into the adjoining building immediately adjacent to.the west, said application concerning 1817-21 Howard Street, Evanston, Illinois, property located in a C1 Commercial District; said public hearing having been conducted pursuant to notice and publication thereof in the manner prescribed by law; and WHEREAS, the Zoning 'Board of Appeals has recommended that the application for said special use be granted; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF • EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: SECTION 1: That the application of the Sephardic Congregation of the Israelite Portuguese Fraternity for a special use to permit expansion of the existing synagogue into the adjoining building immediately adjacent to the west at 1817-21 Howard Street, Evanston, Illinois, and legally described as follows: Lot A, a consolidation of Lots 25, 26 and 27, inclusive, and Lot 24 in the Howard California Addition, a subdivision of the W. 2 of W. 11.976 chains of the S. 8.35 chains of the Northeast ', of Section 25, Township 41 North, Range 13, East of the Third Principal Meridian, in Cook County, Illinois is granted subject to compliance with all.other applicable provisions of the Zoning Ordinance of the City Code of the City of Evanston, 1979, as amended, and all other applicable laws and to the condition that the construction undertaken in connection therewith be in substantial conformity with the • plans placed on file in connection with this application. 9/25/85 111-0-85 SECTION 2: The Director of Building and_Zoning is ordered and j directed to grant such permits or certificates of occupancy as shall be required to effectuate the recommendations of the • Zoning Board of Appeals and the special use granted thereunder. SECTION 3: This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval in the manner provided by law.
