HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCES-1985-084-O-857/23/8s , 7/25/85 r - i AN ORDINANCE Authorizing the Lease of Certain Room Space on the.Second Floor of the Civic Center • WHEREAS, the City of Evanston owns certain real property legally described as follows: See attached and commonly known as 2100 Ridge Avenue, Evanston, Illinois; and WHEREAS, said real estate is improved with a five -story building known as the Evanston Civic Center; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Evanston has determined that it is no longer necessary or appropriate or in the best interestsof the I City that it retain the.use of certain second floor room space within said improved real estate as set forth in Exhibit A hereto and incorporated herein i by reference, and that said second floor room space is not required for the use of or profitable to the City of Evanston; and • WHEREAS, National Lekotek Center, a not -for -profit corporation, has proposed to lease said second floor room space at 2100 Ridge Avenue; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Evanston has determined that the best interests of the City of Evanston would be served by the leasing of said property to National Lekotek Center; and WHEREAS, the City Council finds and determines that the best interests of the City of Evanston and i.ts residents will be served by the execution of the lease. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK.000NTY, ILLINOIS: SECTION 1: That the City Manager is hereby authorized and directed • to sign and the City Clerk hereby authorized and directed to attest on behalf of the City of Evanston a lease by and between //23/85 7/25/85 rr • • • 84-0-85 the City of Evanston, as Lessor, and National Lekotek Center, as Lessee, for certain second floor space on the following terms: for the period beginning October 1, 1985 through September 30, 1986, Seven and 09/100ths Dollars ($7.09) per square foot, or an annual rental of Twenty-two Thousa.nd Ninety-two and no/100ths Dollars ($22,092.00); for the period beginning October 1, 1986 through September 30, 1987, Nine and 70/100ths Dollars ($9.70) per square foot, or an annual rental of Thirty Thousand Two Hundred Twenty-five and no/100ths Dollars ($30,225.00); with an option to re -lease the premises for an additional one. year term commencing on October 1, 1987 and terminating on September 30, 1988, at Nine and 35/100ths Dollars ($9.35) per square foot, or an annual rental of Twenty-nine Thousand one Hundred Thirty-five and no/100ths Dollars ($29,135.00). SECTION 2: The City Manager is hereby authorized and directed to negotiate any additional conditions on the lease of aforesaid room space as may be determined to be in the best interests of the City. SECTION 3: This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval and publication in the manner provided by law.
