HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCES-1985-066-O-856/4i 85 • • AN ORDINANCE Amending Section 3-19-6-3 of the Evanston City Code, 1979, as Amended BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: SECTION 1: That Section 3-19-6-3 of the City Code of the City of Evanston, 1979, as amended, is hereby amended to read as follows: (A) Rates and Charges: 1. The following schedule of rates and charges, which is hereby declared to be just and reasonable, computed according to the number of passengers, the distance traveled, and the time computed as indicated by the taximeter installed in each taxicab, shall be effective commencing March 1, 1985: t $1.00 for the first one -quarter mile or fraction thereof; .45 for each additional one-half mile; .50 for the second and additional passenger excepting children age 12 and under; .10 for each one-half minute of waiting time. The fixed rate for a ride for persons registered to participate in the Senior Citizen/Ambulatory Handicapped Taxicab Program shall be Three Dollars and Fifty Cents ($3.50). Eligible riders must be Evanston residents of sixty (60) years of age or older, or those wh& are ambulatory handicapped, but the availability of assistance shall be limited to those senior citizens who provide a written affidavit of need. Eligible Senior Citizens/Ambulatory Handicapped riders must purchase coupon for service at designated locations for $1.25. The City will contribute $2.25 for each valid coupon retained Riders must be taken only within the corporate boundaries of the City, twenty-four (24) hours a day, seven (7) days a week. 2. That part of Section 3-19-6-3(A)l which provides as follows: Eligible Senior Citizens/Ambulatory Handicapped riders must purchase coupon for service at designated locations for $1.25. The City will contribute $2.25 for each valid coupon retained. Riders must be taken only within the corporate boundaries of the City, twenty-four (24) hours a day, seven (7) days a week. shall be null and void and of no effect on or after 12:00 midnight September 1, 1985 unless the City Council, by majority, authorizes an extension thereof.
