HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCES-1985-036-O-854/ 4/85 4/8/85 a 01. 01=31 AN ORDINANCE_ Dedicating Elgin Road as it Exists in a Northeasterly Direction Between Clark Street • on the South and Emerson Street on the North WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City of Evanston to accept a certain public street as legally described hereafter; • and WHEREAS, such street, known as Elgin Road, has been improved by the City and used as a public street for greater than twenty years; and WHEREAS, the City expressly purchased all the land, part of which now constitutes Elgin Road for the purpose of creating said Road; and �. WHEREAS, the City entered into an easement.a.greement with Chicago Transit Authority for the creation and use of a portion of Elgin Road; and WHEREAS, Elgin Road has been utilized as a public street in the city since approximately 1965; and WHEREAS, the City has made extensive improvements in streets and sidewalks for Elgin Road; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Evanston has deemed that the best interests of the City will be served by the acceptance of such dedication; and WHEREAS, the City has heretofore accepted Elgin Road as a public street; and and WHEREAS, a question has arisen as to that acceptance; WHEREAS, it is the intention of the City of Evanston to reaffirm its acceptance of the dedication of Elgin Road as a public street; • NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, I.LLINOIS: 36-0-85 SECTION 1: That public street legally described as follows: A: All that part of Lots 8 and 9, Block 6, Village of Evanston, described as follows: beginning at the • northwest corner of said Lot 9, thence southeasterly to a point 25 feet south of north line of Lot 8 measured at right angles from a point 7 feet east of the west line of said Lot 8, thence southeasterly to a point 50 feet south of the north line of said Lot 8'measured at right angles from a point 32 feet east of the west line of said Lot 8; thence north 50 feet to the north line of Lot 8; thence west 98 feet to the point of beginning, in Section 18, Township 41 north, Range,14, east of the third principal meridian, in Cook County, I Illinois. B: Permanent easement for Elgin Road across Chicago Transit Authority property, City of Evanston, Illinois by agreement between the City of Evanston and the Chicago Transit Authority dated January 29, 1968 in Section 18, Township 41 north, Range 14, east of the third principal meridian, in Cook County, Illinois. C: All that part of Lot 5,, Block 6, Village of Evanston lying southerly,of a line drawn from a point on the east line of said Lot 5, which is 25.24 feet north of the southeast corner thereof, to a point on the west line of said Lot 5, which is 91.30 feet north of the southwest corner thereof, in Section 18, Township 41 north, Range 14, east of the third principal meridian; in Cook County, Illinois. • D: All that part of Lot 4, Block 6, Village of Evanston, lying southwesterly of a line described as follows: beginning at a point on the -vest line of said Lot 4, 25.24 feet north of the south line of said Lot 4, thence southeasterly to a point on the south line of said Lot 4, 25.0 feet east of the west line of said Lot 4, all in Section 18, Township 41 north, Range 14, east of the Third Principal Meridian, in Cook County fl Illinois. E: All that part of Lots 9 and 10, Block 8, Village of Evanston, lying northeasterly of a line described as follows: beginning at a point on the north line of said Lot 10, 44.16 feet east of the west line of said Lot 10, thence southeasterly to the east line of Lot 9 at a point 15 feet south of the north line of said Lot 9 in Section 18, Township 41 north, Range 14, east of the third principal meridian; in Cook County, Illinois. I: The south 24 feet of Lots 7 and 8 together with the 20 feet vacated alley between said portions of Lots 7 and 8, in'Block 10, Village of Evanston in Section 18, Township 41 north, Range 14, east of the. -.'third principal meridian, in Cbok County, Illinois. be and hereby is accepted as a public street by the City Council of the City of Evanston. I SECTION 2: That a certified copy of said ordinance together with a true and correct plat of said public street be recorded at the Office of Recorder of Deeds in Cook County, Illinois. SECTION 3: All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. �ISECTION 4: This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval, and publication in the manner provided by law.
