AN ORDINANCE
Amending Section 3-19-6-3
of the Evanston City Code,
1979, as Amended
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION 1: That Section 3-19,-6-3 of the City
j Code of the City of Evanston, 1979, as

j amended, is hereby amended to read as follows:
(A) The following schedule of rates and charges, which is
hereby declared to be just and reasonable, computed
according to the number of passengers, the distance
traveled, and the time computed as indicated by the
taximeter installed in each taxicab, shall be
effective commencing March 1, 1985.
II $1.00 for the first one -quarter mile or fraction
i� thereof;
.45 for each additional one-half mile;
(I .50 for the second and additional passenger
excepting children age 12 and under;
.10 for each one-half minute of waiting time.
The fixed rate for a ride for persons registered to
participate in the Senior Citizen/Ambulatory
Handicapped Taxicab Program shall be three dollars
fifty cents ($3.50). Eligible riders must be
Evanston _residents of sixty (60) years of age or
older, or those who are ambulatory handicapped, but
the availability of assistance shall be limited to
those senior citizens who provide a written affidavit
of need. Eligible riders must purchase coupon for
service at designated locations for $2.00. The City
will contribute $1.50 for each valid coupon retained.
Riders must be taken only within the corporate
boundaries of the City, twenty-four (24) hours a day,
seven (7) days a week.
! (B) Waiting Time: Waiting time shall include the time
beginning five (5) minutes after call time at the
a place to which the taxicab has been called, when it
is not in motion, and the time consumed while
standing at the direction of a passenger. Waiting
j time shall also include any time during which a
i taxicab is traveling at a speed of less than ten (10)
1 miles per hour so that the fare is being calculated
at the established mileage rate or the waiting time
rate, whichever is greater.
(C) Baggage: Passengers shall be entitled to the
conveyance of their ordinary hand baggage without
! charge. A fee of twenty-five cents ($0.25) may be
charged for carrying items in or upon the taxi or
other than within the passenger compartment.

SECTION 2: All ordinances or parts of ordinances
in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
SECTION 3: This ordinance shall be in full force
and effect from and after its passage,
approval, and publication in the manner provided by law.
