HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCES-1986-072-O-86June 9, 1986 • • • 1 22-0786 AN ORDINANCE Amending Section 2-9-6 of the Evanston City Code Pertaining to Evanston Landmarks WHEREAS, the City of Evanston is a home rule unit of government pursuant to Section 6 (a) of Article VII of the Illinois Constitution; and ' . WHEREAS, the City of Evanston, in an exercise of its home rule powers, did on January 2, 1975 adopt Ordinance 23-0-73 which established the Evanston Preservation Commission; and WHEREAS, the identification and evaluation of historic resources and elements of fine visual and physical character within the City is a, matter of local concern and importance; and WHEREAS, the conservation of such resources pertains to the business and affairs of the City of Evanston; and WHEREAS, the Evanston Preservation Commission has been established by ordinance to identify and evaluate historic resources within the City; and WHEREAS, the Commission, as a result of the recent Community Development Block Grant -funded Target Area Survey, has identified additional structures deserving of landmark designation; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: SECTION 2: That the Evanston City Code, 1979, as amended, be and hereby is further amended by adding to Section 2-9-5, Schedule.
