HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCES-1986-030-O-862/ 18/86 2/20/86 • 0 • AN ORDINANCE'"` Amending Sections 6-4-5(B) and 6-8-5(C) of the Evanston City Code WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Evanston referred to the Zoning Amendment Committee a proposal to consider the following: (A) amending Section 6-4-5(B) of the Zoning Ordinance, which now authorizes as a permitted use in any zoning district "any governmental or proprietary function owned or operated by a municipality," in order -to clarify that said section applies solely to functions owned or operated by the City of Evanston; and (B) amending Section 6-8-5(C) of the Zoning Ordinance by adding the following to the listed M4 General Manufacturing special uses: "Transit and Transportation facilities including, but not limited to, terminals, parking areas, service buildings and garages:, WHEREAS, the Zoning Amendment Committee conducted public hearings on January 16, 1986 and February 6, 1986 to consider said amendments to the Zoning Ordinance pursuant to notice and publication in the manner prescribed by law; and WHEREAS, the Zoning Amendment Committee has recommended, based on evidence presented at those public hearings, findings of fact, consideration of existing conditions, conservation of property values and the direction of building development to the best advantage of the entire City, that the Evanston Zoning Ordinance be amended; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: SECTION 1: That Section 6-4-5(B) of the City Code of the City of Evanston, 1979, as amended, be and hereby is further amended to read as follows: 6-4-5(B) Any governmental or proprietary function owned or operated i by the City of Evanston is a permitted use in any district, but such use must conform with other requirements herein set forth for the district in which it is located, provided, however, that the City I Council, after consideration by the Planning and Development Committee, �i may approve buildings and structures owned and operated by the City that ' do not comply with all of the requirements of the underlying district, 2/18/86 2/20/86 j } • if they are necessary for the provision of desired City services and if the adverse impact on surrounding properties ..resul ti.ng : from..such- non xw compliance is minimized by design, architectural treatment, screening, landscaping and/or placement on the lot, and such.plan for reduction of adverse impact is approved by the City Manager or his designee. SECTION 2: That Section 6-8-5(C) of the City Code of the City of Evanston, 1979, as amended, be and hereby is further amended by adding in appropriate alphabetical order, the following: 6-8-5(C) SPECIAL USES: Public transit and public transportation facilities including, but not limited to, terminals, parking areas, service buildings and garages. SECTION 3: All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
