HomeMy WebLinkAboutORDINANCES-1987-005-O-871/5/87 1/5/87 1/6/87 1/9/87 • i 5-0-87 I AN ORDINANCE Rezoning the North Shore Channel and the Abutting Channel Banks and Certain Contiguous Properties WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Evanston referred to the Zoning Amendment Committee a proposal to amend the Evanston Zoning Ordinance by rezoning the property described herein; and WHEREAS, the Zoning Amendment Committee conducted a public hearing on November 20, 1986 and December 11, 1986 to consider said amendment to the Evanston Zoning Ordinance pursuant to notice and publication in the manner prescribed by law; and WHEREAS, the Zoning Amendment Committee has recommended, based on evidence presented at that public hearing, findings of fact, consideration of existing conditions, conservation of property values and the direction • of building development to the best advantage of the entire City, that the Evanston Zoning Ordinance be amended; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS: SECTION 1: That the Evanston Zoning Ordinance, adopted December 4, 1978, as amended, be and hereby is further amended by reclassifying from R1 Single -Family Residence District, R2 Single -Family Residence District and Bl Business District to the North Shore Channel Greenbelt District classification the following property: the North Shore Channel; the abutting channel banks; the Peter N. Jans community Golf Course and "pro -shop"; City of Evanston Fire Station #3; the Chandler Leisure Center and parking lot; Chandler Park; Leahy Park; Ladd Arboretum; Eggleston Park; Dr. • Isabella G. Butler Park; the North Shore Association for the Retarded, Inc.; portions of the Martin Luther King, Jr. 5-0-87 • n U • Experimental Laboratory School and specified other open space properties abutting the North Shore Channel. Said property is described as set forth in Exhibit A (consisting of seven pages), attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference. SECTION 2: The official district map of the Evanston Zoning Ordinance, as amended, shall be further amended in accordance with the reclassification set forth in this ordinance. SECTION 3: All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. SECTION 4: This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage, approval, and publication in the manner provided by law.
