AN ORDINANCE
Amending Section 6-2-4 and 6-1-9-2(C) and
Adding Section 6-12-9-2(D) and 6-12-9-2(E)
of the Evanston Zoning Ordinance
• WHEREAS, the Evanston Zoning Amendment Committee
conducted a public hearing on June 7, 1990 and June 21, 1990, on
a proposed amendment to Section 6-2-4, 6-12-9-2(B) and (C) of
the Zoning Ordinance, said public hearing having been conducted
pursuant to notice and publication thereof in -the manner
provided by law; and
WHEREAS, the Zoning Amendment Committee has
recommended that such amendment be made;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION 1: That Section 6-2-4 of the Evanston
Zoning Ordinance, as amended, be and
hereby is further amended by adding in appropriate alphabetical
sequence the following:
0 HOSPITAL BASED SPECIALISTS: A medical practitioner
licensed by the State of Illinois to practice
medicine who restricts his/her practice to one of
the following seven (7) medical specialties: 1)
emergency medicine, 2) radiology, 3) nuclear
medicine and radiation therapy, 4) pathology, 5)
anesthesiology, 6) neonatology and 7) perinatology.
These physicians see essentially all of their
patients in the hospital facilities.
SECTION 2: That Section 6-12-9-2(C) of the Evanston
Zoning Ordinance, as amended, be and
hereby is further amended to read as follows:
(C) Hospital Based Specialists, as defined in 6-2-4,
shall be permitted uses at Evanston Hospital and
St. Francis Hospital provided that the combined
total number of such physicians on tax-exempt
premises does not exceed seventy-five (75) for
Evanston Hospital and forty-four (44) such
specialists at St. Francis Hospital.
SECTION 3: That Section 6-12-9-2 of the Evanston
• Zoning Ordinance, as amended, be and
hereby is further amended by adding the following 6-12-9-2(D)
and 6-12-9-2(E) which reads as follows:
(D) Offices, clinics, and staff examination

rooms for the clinical practice of .
medicine by doctors of medicine; provided
that the following listed clinics in one
or more locations of the hospital shall be
deemed approved so long as all
participating doctors shall have a
principal office located on non -tax-exempt
property. Principal office or offices
shall mean those premises where
• substantially all the doctors's patients
are seen. Participating physicians listed
in Sections 6-12-9-2(B) and (C) shall be
exempt from the provisions of this
Section.
(E) Evanston Hospital and St. Francis Hospital
shall file on September 1, 1990, and
thereafter on January 1, of each year with
the Director of Building and Zoning, a
written report identifying by category
and/or title, office location and phone
number of each physician described in
Section 6-12-9-2(B), (C) and (D) of the
Zoning Ordinance.
SECTION 4: All ordinances or parts of ordinances
in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
SECTION 5: This ordinance shall be in full force
and effect.form and after its passage,
approval and publication in the manner provided by law.
