AN ORDINANCE
Granting Variations from the Use and
Elimination Provisions at 1566 Maple Avenue
• . WHEREAS, the Evanston Zoning Board of Appeals
conducted a public hearing on July 17, 1990, upon the
application of The Presbyterian Home for variations from the use
and elimination provisions of the Zoning Ordinance to permit
retention of the existing building and use thereof as a laundry
and dry cleaning collection station beyond the established
termination date for said building and use of December 1, 1990,
on the property located at 1566 Maple Avenue, in an R7 General
Residence District; said public hearing having been conducted
pursuant to notice and publication thereof in the manner
prescribed by law; and
WHEREAS, the Zoning Board of Appeals has recommended
that the application for said variation be granted;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
0 THE CITY OF EVANSTON, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS:
SECTION 1: That, based upon the evidence and
testimony presented at the hearing, and
upon deliberations and findings of fact contained in the
transcript of the Zoning Board of Appeals Case No.
90-23-V(R) or (T)F, the application of The Presbyterian Home for
variations from the use and elimination provisions of the Zoning
Ordinance to permit retention of the existing building and use
thereof as a laundry and dry cleaning collection station beyond
the established termination date for said building and use of
December 1, 1990, on the property located at 1566 Maple Avenue,
in an R7 General Residence District, and legally described as
follows:
SUB LOT 5 IN A. J. BROWN'S SUBDIVISION OF LOTS 10,
• 11 AND 12 IN BLOCK 62 IN VILLAGE (NOW CITY) OF
EVANSTON, IN SECTION 18, TOWNSHIP 41 NORTH, RANGE
14, EAST OF THE THIRD PRINCIPAL MERIDIAN, ACCORDING
TO THE PLAT THEREOF RECORDED ON JUNE 18, 1885, AS
DOCUMENT NO. 633441, IN BOOK 20, PAGE 33, IN COOK
COUNTY, ILLINOIS.

is granted, subject to compliance with all other provisions of
the Zoning Ordinance, other applicable laws and the following
conditions:
1. The subject building shall be used in
conformity with the testimony presented at
the hearing;
2. No major structural alterations or changes
shall be made to the subject building or
property;
3. So long as the subject building remains on
the premises, the property shall remain on
the tax rolls as non-exempt property; and
4. The subject property and all other
properties bounded by Oak Avenue on the
west, Grove Street on the South, Maple
Avenue on the east and the public alley
south of Grove Street, running between Maple
Avenue and Oak Avenue on the north, shall
remain under unified ownership or the
variations granted herein shall terminate.
SECTION 2: All ordinances or parts of ordinances
in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
SECTION 3: This ordinance shall be in full force
and effect from and after its passage,
approval and publication in the manner provided by law.
