HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS-1971-046-R-7146-R-71 RESOLUTION WHEREAS, there are certain properties in the City of Evanston where off-street parking facilities required by the Zoning Ordinance have not been provided; and: WHEREAS, no required off-street parking was in fact provided when said properties were originally improved; and WHEREAS, the owners of said properties, past or present, did no affirmative act to eliminate the required.off-street parking;.and • WHEREAS, the City.failed to enforce -comp li.ance with parking regulations of the Zoning Ordinance against.the builders at the time the builders originally improved said properties;.and WHEREAS, said properties were improved with homes prior to January 1, 1965: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Evanston, Illinois, that it declares as its policy that variations from the off-street parking regulations in such cases as the Zoning Board of Appeals finds the above enumerated set of facts to exist should be favored if granting of varia- tions from the off-street parking requirements of the Zoning Ordinance will not alter the essential residential character of the area nor be detrimental to the public welfare or • injurious to or depreciate the value bf'the other properties in the neighborhood; BE IT. FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City`Manager and Director of Inspections and Permits be authorized and directed to.establish procedure for a joint hearing before the.Zoning Board of Appeals for all properties.having the above enumerated set of facts and .to waive.the customary filing fee required for application.to the Zoning Board of Appeals. • Mayor ATTEST: City Clerk Adopted: October 4, 1971 • - 2-
