HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS-1972-034-R-7234-R-72 RESOLUTION (Revised) WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Evanston, Illinois, knows that the future of Evanston and the metropolitan area as a viable, diversified, desirable community is dependent on the creation and implementation of area -wide planning for land use; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Evanston, Illinois, feels the need of such planning to help remedy the bad effects of uncoordinated land use and zoning of various municipalities in the metropolitan area, which result in inequitable distribution of tax revenue, resources and exclusionary zoning which has pre- vented the building of housing for lower income people near the V sources of new jobs created on said suburban sites; and WHEREAS, the Congress of the United States of America recognizes the need for state-wide and metropolitan area land use plans to aid communities in becoming diversified, viable and desir- able, a goal to which the City of Evanston, Illinois has demon- strated its commitment and encourages action towards such end: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Evanston, Illinois, does hereby urge passage of such land use policy legislation by the Congress of the United States of America; and to that end is sending copies of this resolution to each of its Congressmen and Senators.
