GORBY WHEREAS, PAUL F. GORBY departed this life on January 16, 1973; and WHEREAS, PAUL F. GORBY was a member of the City Council, represent- ing the Ninth Ward from 1953.to 1963, and served as an Alderman at large for the City of Evanston from 1963 to 1965; and WHEREAS, during his term as Alderman, he served on various committees of the City Council, including Committees on Lighting, Health, Zoning, Fire, Water, and the Municipal Services Committee; and WHEREAS, PAUL F. GORBY served as a member of the Evanston Library • Board from 1965 to 1971, serving as Vice President of said Board from 1968 to 1969; and WHEREAS, PAUL F. GORBY served as a member of the North Suburban Library System Board from .1965 to 1970, serving as President of said Board from 1966 to 1967, and also as a member of the American Library Trustee Association, the Illinois Library Association, and as a Director of the Illinois Regional Library Council; and WHEREAS, PAUL F. GORBY served as a member and President of the Evanston Historical Society and the Chairman of the 1952 City Manager Selection Committee; and. WHEREAS, PAUL F. GORBY served the City of Evanston as an advisor on many special issues; and WHEREAS, Evanston citizens deeply appreciate his interest in serv- ing the citizens of his Ward as well as the citizens of the entire City, • giving most liberally of his time, energy, and abilities; and WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Council of the City of Evanston to pay tribute to PAUL F. GORBY: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MEMBERS OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EVANSTON, on behalf of ourselves, the Mayor, the City Manager, the officials, and all citizens of this community, we express our profound regret upon the occasion of the death of PAUL F..GORBY, and tender to the bereaved members of his family our heartfelt sympathy. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution be made a part of the permanent records of the City and that a suitable copy thereof; signed by the Mayor and attested by the City Clerk, be sent to the members of his bereaved family.
