HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS-1973-051-PR-73I 51-PR-73 RESOLUTION WHEREAS, the City of Evanston's present street lighting system is subject to high maintenance, frequent breakdowns and the need to improve lighting for today's traffic conditions make replacement and renovation of the existing system imminent; and WHEREAS: it is the objective of the City of Evanston to provide adequate illumination for the needs of drivers and pedestrians and to enhance the visual image of the City during the day and night; and WHEREAS: in order to accomplish these objectives it is necessary to develop a plan which would include a system of lighting levels commensurate with neighborhood character and traffic volumes. NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that in the planning and design of all street light systems for the City of Evanston, the following levels of illumination be recommended as a guideline for average maintained illumination. a. Major Streets - Commercial b. Major Streets - Residential c. High Density Apartment Areas d. Local Residential Streets e. Industrial Areas f. Downtown. ATTEST: /sl Maurice F.
