HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS-1973-038-R-73• As Amended & Adopted 5/7/73 RESOLUTION 38-R-73 WHEREAS, the City Council has referred to the Zoning Amendment Committee a motionto consider making hospitals, nursing homes, private clubs and lodges, and rooming houses special uses and not permitted uses in the R6 Districts; and WHEREAS, the City Council has asked the Zoning Amendment Committee to consider the redistricting of properties as appropriate in the area bounded by Main Street, Custer Avenue, Oakton Street, and Ridge Avenue, and WHEREAS, the City Council on March 5 did instruct that • no building permits should be issued for any new structures other than single-family residences in the above described area;. and WHEREAS, on March 26, 1973 the City Council extended the restriction on the issuance of any building permits for other than single-family residences to the area of the entire City of Evanston; and WHEREAS, there is a need to clearly codify and restate the intent of this moratorium for the benefit of the administering agencies and for accurate distribution to potential permit seekers: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the 0 City of Evanston that it is the sense of the City Council and • n their direction to the administration that: 1. no building permits shall be issued for any new construction other than single-family residences in the area bounded by Main Street, Custer Avenue, Oakton Street, and Ridge Avenue; and 2. no building permits shall be issued for any new structures classified by use as hospitals, nursing homes, private clubs and lodges, and rooming houses in all areas of the City of Evanston, except when the City Council by majority vote so instructs the 11/0 City Manager; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that these moratoria shall remain in effect until the current references before the Zoning Amend - went Committee are acted upon by such committee and the City Council and until such time thereafter as the City Council indicated its intent to lift the moratoria.
